Which one is better? Avada or Pro?

We get this question from customers all the time. People want to know if they are making a good choice about the website building platform they are choosing.

We are biased of course. But we are also realistic and we realize that Pro may not be the best theme for everyone, and that Avada, our competition, has some really nice features. So we thought we'd try to be even handed and let you know what we think about our competition, particularly Avada.

We took some major features that customers look for and compared Avada to Pro:

Tools & Demos

A big part of your theme experience are demos. They enable you to build a whole website in a relatively short amount of time and most theme providers give you a wide range of them tailored to specific niches to make the jumpstart even faster. Both Avada and Pro feature those demos. Avada has a bigger portfolio of demos but Pro goes one step further by segmenting ready made design elements into a suite called Design Cloud. While this collection also includes full blown, ready to install demos, it goes a step further to multiplex dozens of pre-built features that you can use to put together your own custom page (including header and footer elements). By doing so you can create an unlimited amount of combinations of unique layouts which protects you from overusing one specific demo and having similar websites like other people using that demo.

Customization

Customization in both themes is managed by a native page builder. Both themes have a live preview so you can edit right in the final design. Additionally both themes include a footer builder, the only main difference of these two page builders is that Pro has a fully built out header builder that enables the user to create an unique header for any individual page.

Extending Functionality

Extensions are a big part of any theme as they enable you to add specific functionality to a theme without adding bloat. From a plugin quantity and breadth perspective both themes are very similar as they have many overlapping plugins so there is no clear winner on this and saying one or the other is better would not be a realistic assessment. Suffice it to say that either theme will very likely have all the pre-optimized and vetted plugins and extensions that you might need.

Search Engine Optimization

When it comes to search engine optimization it’s all about page speed and the correct use of tags. Pro was built from the ground up with an architecture that only loads the parts of the theme that are actually used so you never load the full theme or all functions of the theme. Only the code required by your design and implementation is loaded. By doing so you are saving a lot of page and file size and thus, speed!

Pricing

Pricing is an important aspect when deciding to buy a theme. Avada is sold exclusively through Themeforest, a marketplace that offers WP themes. Pro is sold solely on the Themeco website with several different pricing options: monthly, yearly, lifetime or even hosted. These different options give you more flexibility in contrast to the one time payment of Avada where you will need to purchase support packages to receive future support.

Why did we price Pro this way and why does it matter? Not all sites are the same and not all site designers have the same needs. Pro builds in the ability to really just pay for what you need. For instance, a low monthly fee would be the perfect fit for you if you do not know how long you are planning to use the site and how much help and updates you’ll need. Paying $69 or $79 is not that big a deal for the value of what you get with either Pro or Avada, but it’s even better to just pay $9 a month for a 5K race site that’s only needed for 3 months. On the other end of things, a lot of people find that they like to develop with the same theme over and over. That’s when paying $69 again and again just gets old. Paying one price for an unlimited lifetime license of your favorite theme makes a ton of sense for a situation like this.. It also saves a lot of time and headache managing a lot of different licenses for different sites.

Support

Every product is only as good as the support it comes with. To be fair, features and functionality are similar in most of the modern full-function themes but there are these little things that make the difference and we are always aiming to have that little extra edge in all of these to provide our customers with the greatest tool possible.

At the end of the day, a product should speak for itself really. How usable is it? How easy is it to learn and how quickly can you gain proficiency with it? Does it have the unique features you need? How reliable and responsive is the support? Is support free? Does it have the readily deployable designs and elements that you can adapt to the application you need? Does it have the extension functionality that I need?
