Officially launched in December of 2013, our first full calendar year with X was in 2014, and boy what a ride it’s been. Join us on a quick trip down memory lane to see some of the exciting highlights of the past year plus a sneak peak of what’s in store for 2015.

Tens of Thousands of Customers

customers

We wouldn’t be around without our incredible customers, so a big thank you to YOU for joining us on this journey. We were honored to be recognized as the fastest selling theme of all time at ThemeForest in addition to making new friends from customers across the globe. With X powering sites ranging from the government to celebrities, we have been thrilled to get to know the amazing community of web designers, enthusiasts, and even complete beginners who have turned to X as their theme of choice. We even recently launched our customer showcase to keep up with the amazing new X-powered sites hitting the internet daily! You can also meet a few of them and learn more about them and their businesses through our customer spotlight series.

Answered Over 20,000 Questions

We are a people company. We love technology and creating products and services, however we love people even more. Our incredible development team has answered over 20,000 forum posts in 2014 and done an incredible job serving our customers. They are the heart and soul of everything we do, and it is a privilege to work with such a talented group of folks from across the globe.

First Xtreme Makeover

Build_Change_LOGO_RGB

In line with our desire to be a people first company, we took on a project very near and dear to our hearts this year: our first annual Xtreme Makeover – a free site makeover to a deserving individual, company, or non-profit. The inaugural recipient was Build Change, a non-profit with a mission to “Save lives in earthquakes and hurricanes by working with people in emerging nations to design and build safe houses and schools.” We were thrilled to work with the entire team at Build Change in updating their site to a modern platform, ready for the future, and powered by X. We look forward to continuing this tradition in 2015 with another deserving candidate!

Released 25 Theme Updates

Averaging a little over 2 releases per month, our development team was hard at work with maintenance items and feature development. With over 168,364 lines of code written and refined in 2014, some of the development highlights of the year were the release of our 4th Stack Ethos as well as over a dozen Extensions – premium WordPress plugins made by our team to work seamlessly with X. These amazing tools are included for free with each verified purchase of X. You can check out this video for a brief intro.

Partnered With Kiva

To celebrate our Power Elite milestone over at Envato, we donated $10,000 to the microfinance non-profit Kiva (but there’s a twist). YOU get to pick a deserving entrepreneur from around the globe to give a $25 loan to, and it’s on us. This will be an ongoing initiative, and there are still funds available as of this writing. Check out our official Kiva page for more information, and even make a loan instantly…like right now! You do not have to be a customer of ours to participate, and we would love to have you join us in this most worthy of causes.

Coming in 2015

We have one mission: to have the absolute best WordPress theme on the market. Ever. Through a commitment to development best practices, well thought out user experiences, a high degree of functionality, and support that is second to none – 2014 allowed us to lay an incredible foundation for all that is to come next. As we have already mapped out many of our goals and targets for 2015, we can say without a doubt that if you liked what we did in 2014, you are going to LOVE what is coming in 2015.

Our team is already hard at work on several new enhancements that will further establish X as the preeminent theme on the market, not just for 2015 – but beyond. We want each of our current and future customers to know that there is not a single company who is more committed to a product than our team is to X, and we look forward to earning your business and friendship one person at a time.

As we welcome the new year, our hearts are full of gratitude and thankfulness for the trust you have put in us over this past year. It is such a joy to wake up every day and enjoy the work set before you, so thank-you for giving us the opportunity to serve you in this capacity.

Whether you have bought your 1st, 5th, or 20th copy of X (or are about to buy your first) – we look forward to getting to know you and your business better. From all your friends at Themeco, we wish you a very Happy New Year!

Happy new year! Can’t wait to see what else you have in store for us. The X theme is fast awesome and customizable. We love it here. We hope to see more options when it comes to the VC portion of it.

  2. Alan Bayer

You guys are doing amazing work. I’ve developed two websites with X so far, and will likely use it again for more projects. I’ll definitely stay tuned! Good luck in 2015.

    1. Themeco

Many thanks, Alan! We certainly appreciate the repeat business as it allows us to continue to develop and support X and the growing ecosystem.

  5. Michael Tchong

Fantastic theme, so congratulations on your spectacular growth, you deserve it! Looking forward to creating a simply amazing site with X in 2015! 🙂

    Happy New Year!

  6. Alex

I love the X theme, but I believe your biggest focus should be on the visual composer as that is what is holding it back the most and also what my clients are having the biggest issues with.

    1. Themeco

Thanks Alex…we have a big update coming up for our integrated of VC in our next release. While the original intention was always to use the page builder functionality with our Shortcodes only, there’s been enough interest that we are transitioning towards using the plugin with the more standard features and moving our own page builder functionality to a new tool that is in the works 😉

  7. Stephen Zank

Thanks for your ongoing commitment to X, my project is growing along side all of your hard work. Every enhancement allows me to produce a better product both easier and faster, and this allows me to focus on my content! I can’t wait to show it to you when its ready!

    1. Themeco

You are very welcome, Stephen…thank-you! We’re looking forward to seeing the finished product and certainly remember some of our chats with you in the forum. Cheers!

  8. Steve Wilkinson

Here’s to a great 2015 to everyone at Themeco! Thanks so much for all your hard work and making X so awesome. I’m so glad I ran across it, and I look forward to learning it better and everything you have coming in 2015. (I should be buying a couple more soon!) 🙂

    – – –

BTW, if I had to vote for the #1 thing I’d like to be an early 2015 focus… a better Demo area. I send clients to look at your demos to get an idea of what they like or are looking for, and IMO, the current Demos do not do the X flexibility justice. Each demo should really show a homepage variation or two (more standard and one-page at minimum), a few blog layouts, a few portfolio layouts, a page with short-codes, a page highlighting special features, etc.

I know some of that can be found in other places, or imagined if you’ve looked closely enough at Demo 1 of each, but it would really help people to realize what X does and focus in on one of the demos they like. (It’s also how most other theme vendors display their themes.) Thanks.

    1. Themeco

Thanks Steve! We don’t typically hear anything related to our demos (usually the opposite actually – people more often tell us there’s too much to go through) – 🙂 We will be releasing new demos throughout the year and updating some older ones. Our most popular one – Integrity 01 – is being updated as we speak. And you are correct in that most every demo does have multiple pages, layouts, and different configurations so I would take some time to go through them in detail and share that with your clients. There are demos of each Shortcode style for each Stack (in the 01 Demos of each Stack) as well as many different layouts and orientations both fixed/static top, fixed left, and fixed right throughout. That in addition to our new Customer Showcase with nearly 200 and growing example sites, and there are many ways to see what is possible with X. Happy New Year, my friend!

      1. Steve Wilkinson

I agree that most of that information is available (i.e. shortcodes under 01)… but, I think it would be worth the effort to, say, add a shortcodes menu item to each demo. Someone focusing on Icon Demo 06 might just look at what’s shown for that demo and not realize most of the actual features and functionality are under Icon Demo 01. It’s redundant, but a good kind of redundancy, IMO. 🙂

But, what I’m primarily talking about are things like one-page vs more standard layouts for the ‘home-page’ and showing possible layouts for blog or portfolio items (1 col, 2 col, 3 col, masonry layout, etc.). For example, if I want a more traditional homepage layout (and blog and portfolio), is Ethos Demo 02 or 03 even worth looking at? Or, if I really like one-page layouts, will I consider Integrity 03?

And yes, there is a lot to go through – so any improvement in a way to do that more efficiently might be helpful (maybe as narrow a top bar as possible with a ‘next’ and ‘previous’ demo button?) – but I think with the current demo setup, people might bypass a lot of good options in the process because they can’t imagine it in a different possible layout/mode than the demo displays. (In the meantime, I will make special note to have them focus on the 01 of each.)

And I LOVE the new Customer Showcase! Yes, that does help a lot to show flexibility. Thanks!

        1. Themeco

We’ve loved being able to share some of the incredible sites built with X – we’re also getting a lot of emails now with other customers wanting to share their sites, so we will be keeping that updated.

The demos used to be setup like what you’ve described where all the Shortcodes were on all the demos, however very few visitors were actually checking them out, so we opted to show the Shortcodes on the 01 demos for each Stack since the main thing people need to understand is that each Shortcode is styled uniquely based on which Stack they are using. For this reason the 01 demos of each Stack have ALL the features (Shortcodes, bbPress, BuddyPress, Creative Search, etc).

Currently, all of the 02 demos are one page examples for each Stack, however you could essentially take any top navigation demos and turn them into one pagers.

We are already in discussion about the demo process (and just released a big new update that makes importing demo content a breeze and just one click) in addition to broader design options in X and making sure everything is as streamlined as possible. We will continue to refine the design options throughout the upcoming year which by extension may also include the presentation of the demos themselves. It can be a tricky balance at times to show all this versatility in an efficient manner, but we’re up for the task 🙂

  9. Peter Guirguis

I’ve never seen any WordPress theme company be so good, generous, and gracious like you guys are! Thank you for all that you do 🙂

    Happy New Year!

    1. Themeco

That is very kind of you, Peter…thank-you! We’re big fans of the golden rule around here (and graciously serving as we have been shown great grace). Happy New Year!

  10. Ryan

I love the many functions of X, but think it would be the BEST out there if only you were to incorporate inline page editing with Visual Composer – makes things SO much easier to be able to see your changes as you make them vs having to publish then preview then adjust then publish then preview etc.

Thanks for all the hard work – happy new year!

    1. Themeco

Thanks Ryan…Our next release will have updates to options customers will have when using VC so stay tuned. Happy New Year to you as well!

  11. Carol Boland

A fascinating peek into what you all have brewing at X Theme> wish you continued success, but realize I haven’t made it to your level of expertise yet, so won’t bother you at present!
    HAPPY NEW YEAR

    Kip – aka Carol

  12. Reginald Chan

Easy drag & drop interface and excellent support team. You guys won my heart. I wish you all more functional and featuristic year 🙂

    1. Themeco

That is very kind, Anvesh…thank-you! I love “functional and featuristic” – a good way to describe the upcoming year…we may just have to borrow that line 🙂

  14. Alejandro

    Happy new year guys!!

It’s been a pleasure having you around, your theme rocks and you offer a great customer service, and that will certainly assure you a very successful 2015.

I’m certainly going to buy more licenses from you this year!! 🙂

    1. Themeco

And it’s been a pleasure to get to know you as well, Alejandro! Thank you very much for the repeat business!

  15. Mark Matysiak

I have started developing two websites for customers this year, both using the X. I am extremely happy with your great theme and the great support I am getting. Can’t wait to see what 2015 brings.

The way you run your company is showing the way to the rest of the world, wishing you a continued success and a happy new year.

  18. AnaLog

I am a little late in this discussion, but I couldn’t resist to leave a comment.

This post really made my day and motivated me :)! Thank you for inspiring others, being sincere and paying it forward.

I would wish for in 2015 some/more different button styles in X theme :)!

    1. Themeco

      Thank-you very much, Ana!

Not sure if additional button styles will be introduced anytime soon as there are dozens of different combinations through the use of standard, 3d, pill, circle, and many other shapes and styles. If you haven’t already, you can see code snippets and examples here.

      Cheers!

  19. Jstrategy

I have a question about the theme… I have yet to purchase X theme but everything I see it blowing me away… this may be documented elsewhere but please tell me… is there a setting to scroll to the next frame or screen wide panel automatically?

I don’t love the slow scroll from one screen-wide-panel to the next that is common with parallax scrollers… just wondering if it can be programmed to “snap” to the next screen automatically on a single mouse scroll roll. Similar to http://mekanism.com/

    Please let me know.

    1. Themeco

There is not a feature like that out of the box in X. The closest would be when using a video/slider header to have the scroll icon activated that when clicked will take you down to the next band as seen in our Integrity 01 Demo.

      1. Bob Graham

I like this theme a lot and the more I see what people do with it, the more I see how flexible it is. I am going to try to integrate it with some Ruby on Rails apps I’ve made and see how it turns out as a separate front end.

  20. Anouar Fourti

You’re doing a great job guys, there have been lots of changes since my theme’s review of last year on my blog!

I think that I should update my post regularly :p

    Keep up the great job!

    1. Themeco

Yes indeed, Anouar! Lots of exciting enhancements with X and even more great ones in the works for 2015! Great to hear from you again, and we would welcome the updated review of X as often as you’d like 🙂

  21. Joshua

World’s most amazing theme I’ve ever seen. And the support you have is extremely awesome. This theme is one of it’s kind and the Support people are just amazing.

You have a Superb Support Team. Thank you so much.

  22. Bob Hogg

I have just started building a WordPress site using the Customizr theme but having discovered X today I am thinking about switching! If I do, what will happen to the look of my current Customizr pages when I switch to X? (Apologies if that is a naive question – I’m just starting at this website building game!)

    Thanks, Bob.

    1. Themeco

      Howdy Bob!

Without knowing how the Customizr theme has created their theme from a functionality standpoint, we couldn’t give you a direct answer, however if you are using native WordPress features (just text on the page, etc) you shouldn’t have any issues switching over. It is expected to have to transition things when moving from one theme to another as each company has their own way of utilizing certain features. For example, if you used a lot of Shortcodes in the old theme, those will not carry over to a new theme as they are functionality that is 99% of the time tied into just that theme environment. If you need anything further, feel free to contact us, and we’ll be happy to assist.

      Welcome to the game 🙂

  23. Ryan

Thank you so very much X Team for creating a website builder that I could finally get my exact look and feel and functionality. And for the enormous amount of support you give even with customizations, that allowed me to get the perfect travel blog and not once did you say “No, we won’t help you.”

You all rock, and I appreciate you helping to make http://www.LostBoyMemoirs.com the best travel blog out there =)

**One Feature to look forward to**
I love the MegaMenus. I have seen other themes that allow a megamenu to hold videos or article previews in cards, I hope you will add this to it!**

    1. Themeco

Many thanks for the sentiments, Ryan! The site looks incredible…many people on the team are in awe of your artistic abilities 🙂 I’ll be happy to add your request to our feature request list although there are no immediate plans to update the mega menu functionality due to the intended functionality of it (a way to organize a lot of text in the navigation). We are also working on our biggest update/feature to date that is sure to be a big hit with our current and future customers so the dev team is pretty heads down on that at the moment. Cheers, my friend!

  24. Efthimios Atsaloglou

I purchased the theme 2 days ago. I find it super awesome. I was just wondering where I could find the Marketing section with the HD video training.

    Thank you in advance,

    Best,

      Thrilled to hear that, Efthimios!
