Why are there two customizers?

Hi
I am not exactly how I got to each (they are saved as shortcuts), but i am able to access two customizers, each looking different and similar at the same time.

The first one gives these menu items https://www.screencast.com/t/3MU70P4kg
The second https://www.screencast.com/t/ccGflCyJ

Can you please explain what the differences are, and why two were implemented?

thanks

Hello @flashfog,

Thanks for writing in!

There is only one customizer and that is the Appearance > Customize. This is a WordPress default customizer. On the other hand, the X > Theme Options is the theme’s built-in option settings area where you can also preview your changes just like what you have in the Customizer. The Theme Options is where you can set theme-specific features, settings, and options like which Stack to use, set up your global layout and design, or enable the Scroll to Top anchor.

Hope this makes sense.

What makes it very confusing is that you get at different options for the same thing, from two different angles. For example, the options offered for a common menu (woo commerce) are very different depending on each of those. I really hope this was done for technical reasons; from an ease-of-use standpoint it makes absolutely no sense.
I really wish things were centralized.

Hi @flashfog,

The WooCommerce tab you see in the Appearance > Customize section is added by the WooCommerce plugin and we do not interfere with the settings of the WooCommerce plugin. However the WooCommerce tab in the Theme Options is more specifically to the theme where you can customize the appearance / layout of your different pages of WooCommerce used in the theme.

Hope this helps!

It does, but all of this need to be mentioned here https://theme.co/docs/woocommerce
