Using loopers to display sliders

I have been studying loopers. I want to find out if they could solve a design problem I have. I would like to make a full-width one-cell “grid” that displays, successively, eight separate sliders. And I would like to have a full-width navigational bar (a row of eight links) sitting just above the displayer sliders, allowing the user to click between the eight sliders. What do you think? Is that doable with loopers?

Thanks for writing in! You can use the looper using the grid as your looper provider and the cell as your looper consumer. The problem is that the grid-cell layout is not a slider. You will need certain customizations (JS and CSS coding) to be able to make it act like a slider. Be advised that custom coding is beyond the scope of our support. We cannot help you with this request.

Just a suggestion, since you want to have a slider, please use the Slider Revolution plugin instead. You can use the plugin to output post items in each slide. You can even utilize the post featured image as a slide background or image layer. Please use the help center to know more about the plugin:

  1. The design I wanted to implement is to have some element that displays a slider. And to have its own navigation bar above it with six or eight links that would swap out corresponding project-category sliders. The visitor would stay on the home page. My idea was to create a slider of sliders. That is perhaps to complicated

  2. An alternate design, simpler design is to have the sliders display separate images for the six or eight project-categories, and which link out to actual pages containing (via sliders or image static image displays) the six or eight different project-categories. In that case I would like to have identical secondary project-category navigation on the various pages. Is is possible to make a special “menu” that I can position wherever I want it to be. That position would be just above either the project-category slider on the home page or a project-category slider on a target project-category page.

Hello @johnboak,

Regretfully we do not have a feature or option that you can use the loopers to create a slider like what you have described. It may need custom coding which is far beyond the scope of our support already.

I understand that your original reply explained the question on loopers. My reply’s item #2, “An alternate design,” is completely Looper-free, and asks if Menus made in Pro can be positioned freely, assigned to specific pages etc. I will study your support documents.

If you want a menu to be inserted and positioned within the page content, I would suggest you use the following elements which may serve your need.

  1. Navigation Inline
  2. Navigation Dropdown
  3. Navigation Collapsed
  4. Navigation Layered
  5. Navigation Modal
