Post Config with Essential Grid

Hey Guys,

I have 2 categories for filtering Post
Post for Posts and Review for Customers’ reviews.

I Install Essential Grid, create a very simple setting, and add the shortcut to the page but when I check the online page is loading everything.

Would You please check what am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Robert,

Thanks for writing to us.

I checked your Essential grid settings it seems that all the settings are working fine I went ahead and created a page on your server and tested the Essential grid and it seems that it is working fine. I would suggest you please purge all the cache from the Autoptimize plugin and clear your browser cache and then check it.

Thanks

Ok. I did that. This is not the issue.

The page you created is working just fine as long as not set as WP Post Page. As soon I assign it as the WP Post page it stops working.

  1. The draft page you have created I RENAME TO Post-Temp;
  2. I DELETE the assigned POST page;
  3. I assigned the Post-Temp as the new Blog page

…and as soon I make this change the page that initially shows only 3 Blogs Post now is showing everything again instead of filtering.

Hello Robert,

I am seeing this:

You have 10 post items. 3 post items were assigned to the Post category while the remaining 7 items are under Reviews category. In your Essential Grid, you have this settings:

This means that your Essential Grid will only display 3 post items. Now, your Essential Grid can be displayed on a page using this shortcode “[ess_grid alias=“post_grid”][/ess_grid]”. You have placed the shortcode in the " Post-Temp" page. You are expecting to see the Essential Grid on the Post-Temp page which is not displaying at the moment all because you have assigned the “Post-Temp” page as your Posts Page in Settings > Reading > Your Homepage Displays.

Be advised that once you assign any page as your Posts Page, any active contents will be discarded. WordPress will replace it with a WordPress loop that generates the post items dynamically. You can check it here:

If you want to see the Essential Grid, do not assign the Post-Temp page as your Posts Page.

Hope this makes sense.

Do not assign Essential Grid as my WP Posts Page - COPY.

Basically, we do not have control of the WP Post Page, am I correct? unless I have another Plugin to do so?

Hello Robert,

If you upgrade to the Pro theme, The Future of WordPress Themes & Ultimate Site Builder - Pro by Themeco, you can use the Layout builder to be able to create and design your own Posts Page. You can check out this documentation to be familiar with the Layout Builder.

With the X theme and the Essential Grid as your blog index, perhaps these old threads can help you:

Be advised that making Essential Grid as your blog index is considered custom development already as per our policy and it is also beyond the scope of our support.

Best Regards.
