Customise the standard Author Wordpress page

Hi,

I am looking to customise the author page on my client’s website, example here - https://datajar.co.uk/author/felixdatajar-co-uk/

I would like to add a page title and potentially some introduction text above the posts. I have a couple of questions:

  1. Is there a way to achieve this by building a page with Cornerstone and then adding shortcodes / widgets to create a standard Wordpress page? This is my preferred method.
  2. If this is possible, how do obtain posts from a specific author with a shortcode?
  3. Alternatively, is this possible via something like ACF?
  4. If this is not possible, I assume I need to edit the specific Wordpress template that creates this page in my child theme? Can you point me in the right direction please…

Any help on the easiest way to achieve this, greatly received.

Thanks for reaching out.
In your referred site, all the Archive templates have the same structure including Category, Tags, and Authors. If you are using the Pro, you can create a specific Archive layout using Layout Builder and can assign it to the Author page. If you are using the X theme, you may need to modify the author.php into your child theme.
Please find the answer to your queries below:

  1. Did you mean that you will create a page through Cornerstone and then add shortcode through the Default builder, that is not possible. If that is not the case, please explain it a bit more.

Your other queries’ answer will depend on the reply of the above.

The easiest way is to use the Layout Builder and assign the layout to the Author, but that is exclusively available in the Pro.
If you are using the X theme, I would suggest updating into the Pro by following the instruction given in this link: https://theme.co/docs/converting-from-x-to-pro

Hello and thank you for your reply.

I actually have an unlimited Pro license, so I can upgrade my client to Pro. Could you link me to some info on how to create a template to replace the author page? I did not know that was a feature of Pro, but sounds very useful.
