Blog Pagination Setup on Custom Archive Page

I have created a custom archive page here: https://kearnanconsulting.com/blog/. I used the theme builder and created a “blog” page with a “posts” element. When I add the pagination element, it won’t show up on the front end.

How can I add pagination to show more blogs on this page ?

Hey Jeff,

Thanks for writing in! Did you added a Looper Provider in your custom archive layout? We would love to check your layout element settings if only we can log in. You can create a secure note in your next reply with the following info:
– Link to your site
– WP login URL
– WP username
– WP password
– WP Administrator Role
– Confirmation that we can access and make changes to your site

To know how to create a secure note, please check this out: How The Forum Works

Cheers.

Hi, I just sent you a secure note with the login information.
Yes, there is a looper provider. I set it to show 22 blogs right now so they all show. Feel free to change that to 6 or some other number to get the pagination working. I cannot figure it out. I do want to know what I did wrong though so I can understand this better. Thank you!!

Hey Jeff,

Please keep in mind that a blog index is an archive page. You do not need a Looper Provider in it. What you have right now is actual a normal page.

You haven’t even assign your Blog page as your Post Page in Settings > Reading. To fix your issue, do the following:
1.) Edit your Blog page in Cornerstone and save it as a template.
2.) Go to Settings > Reading and assign the “Blog” as your Post Page
3.) In Cornerstone, create a new custom Archive layout and use the saved template.
4.) Disable the Looper Provider in your archive layout.
5.) Add the Post Pagination element to your layout.

Kindly let us know how it goes.

Thank you for this helpful info. How do I create a new custom Archive layout in Cornerstone? Is there a step by step for that? When I go to “Add New” I can choose page or component, so I think I’m in the wrong place, unless I should choose “page” and then set something to archive from there.

I found this: https://theme.co/docs/archive-templates

But this is what it looks like on my end (I don’t see “archive”): https://share.zight.com/12ujA5bz

Thanks again.

Hello Jeff,

As it turns out, you are using the X theme. Be advised that the Archive layout builder is only available in the Pro theme. With the X theme, you will be limited to the default blog index. If you want custom blog index and custom archive pages, you may need to upgrade to the Pro theme. Please check out the difference between the X theme and Pro theme here:

Best Regards.

Hey Jeff,

I’ve forwarded this case to our leadership team if this is possible. Please stay tuned.

Thanks.

Hey Jeff,

Yes, we can refund if you’ll purchase Pro. Please let us know once you got Pro.

Thanks.

Thank you so much! Let me discuss this with my client and I’ll let you know when we’ve purchased it so you can confirm.

Hey Jeff,

Great and let us know how it goes.
