Thanks for reaching out. If you just want to display the portfolio items, you can follow the instruction given by Alexander on this thread:
Be advised that you may be able to display the portfolio categories, it cannot be used as a sort filter button because that feature is not yet available in the Layout Builder. A feature request has already been added for consideration in the future release of the theme.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I’m wondering what you mean when you say the sort filter is not yet available in Layout Builder when you have a perfect example of what I’m trying to do in your Design Cloud site template for Silvertooth:
This has the styling I’m after, with the “Choose By Category” option at the top. How was this done?

The demo that you showed us was not built using the Layout Builder. What you’re seeing is the portfolio design the comes out of the box in X/Pro. Check out the links below to learn more.

Once you’ve set X/Pro portfolio, you’ll get the exact layout in our demo.

Hi, thanks. I already read all of those links before writing you here. Not sure if you noticed my original link regarding this, but it didn’t use the Portfolio Template to display the portfolio.
Instead, I created a standard default page and used a Looper to place the portfolio beneath some intro text, as there is no way/place to add intro text using the Portfolio Template.
That is why I am unable to replicate the category sorting the way your links above explain. That only works if you choose the Portfolio Template as your page template, and if you do that, then you have no way to add/style intro text or pretty much anything else on that page.
This is why the title of my topic here is Using Loopers for Portfolio ; )
So, am I able to add/style intro text to a page using the traditional Portfolio Template for the page, and/or how would I add intro text above the portfolio and also have it list the categories if not using Portfolio Template but instead using Loopers as I have?

Regretfully there is no option and no element to add sorting in the Looper or Layout builder at the moment. It would require custom development. I would suggest you contact a developer who can assist you with your concern.
Alternatively, you can use our bundled plugin called “The Grid” or “Essential Grid” to achieve the layout. You can create the Portfolio post grid with a sorting option. In case if you haven’t seen our doc for “The Grid” and “Essential Grid”. Please have a look at it.
