Using different footer on different pages

Please bear with me I’m not very good at this.

Presently, I have a global footer that is set-up in this manner:
Appearance > Widgets > Footer 1
I basically just typed in the HTML into the Footer 1 section.

I don’t know if this is the optimal way to do it. It always felt like there was probably a better way. But, it seems to work okay this way and not cause any problems.

However, I now have a situation where it would be helpful to me if I could have a customized and different footer on the blog’s home page along with just several other pages of the site.

Is there a way to do this? I would imagine there is a way, but I can’t figure it out.

Thank you

Hi @ShermanPotter,

Thanks for reaching out.
It is not very clear what exactly you are trying to achieve using the widget here. If you want a different footer on a different page, you can use the Footer Builder which is exclusively available for Pro.
I would suggest you go through the following article and video on Header Builder and Footer Builder and how to set up the navigation.

Hope it helps.
Thanks

Honestly, I just wanted to have a footer, and that’s the first way I figured out how to do it. I’ve followed your instructions now. So, I have a proper footer! Thank you.

My question now is how do I put a search bar in that footer that’s been properly created? I tried to add a footer widget with a search bar but that didn’t do anything. Is it possible to put a search bar into this X footer?

Thank you!

Hey @ShermanPotter,

If you are using Pro, you can use the Search element to display it in the footer.

But if you are using X it requires customization. Regretfully, customization is outside the scope of our theme support. You may seek 3rd party developers to help you with your problems or you can avail One where we can answer questions outside of the features of our theme.

Hope that helps and thank you for understanding.

Thank you. I’m using Pro and that worked.

My question now is this: My footer is a row with two columns. How do you add another row (within the row) and above the 2 columns?

Thank you

Hey @ShermanPotter,

What you are trying to achieve is not feasible. That being said, would you mind sharing more information on your design layout? In that way, we can recommend you a proper structure to achieve your goal. Providing screenshots is a great help.

Thank you.

I found a solution by adding a “Bar” above the row.

Without starting a new thread, could I just ask you here since we’re all here already talking … is there a way to set a global page background of black that shows up on all pages (including the blog background, category page backgrounds etc.)… and, that would override any page background that was set individually??

thank you

Hello @ShermanPotter,

Thanks for writing in! The global background color can be set in the theme options, Cornerstone > Theme Options > Globals > Options > Layout and Design.

Your footer must have a transparent background color if you want to display the page background.

Best Regards.
