Template won't load

Hello,
I’m trying to load a template but it stalls out after it says “initializing” and just hangs there. The only one I can get to install is the starter one. I’ve adjusted my PHP limits as recommended by a post I found on here but there’s no change. It’s a fresh install with only a few plugins that are needed to support the theme I want (education) Please hellp!

Hey @PoscoCreative,

Thank you for reaching out. I understand the Education site template stops at “Initializing…” during installation, while only the blank starter site installs. Please review the steps below to resolve this.

Step 1: Quick Check

  • Confirm PHP version is 8.1+ and PHP memory is at least 512 MB.
  • Confirm both Pro/X and Cornerstone are updated to the latest versions, and that your theme is validated.

Step 2: Troubleshooting

  1. Deactivate all non-Themeco plugins – this includes Slider Revolution and any education/LMS plugins you added for this site. Clear any caching, then try installing the Education site again. The installer handles sliders immediately after the “Initializing…” step, so if the install completes with plugins deactivated, that step is where it was stopping. Reactivate your plugins one at a time afterwards.

  2. Check the request that fails – open your browser’s developer tools (F12 > Network tab) before clicking Install. When the progress stops, note the status code (for example 500, 503, 504 or 403) and the response of the last request.

  3. Capture the server error – add the lines below to your wp-config.php file (above the “That’s all, stop editing!” line), retry the install, then check wp-content/debug.log for any fatal error. If the response was 403 or 503, please also ask your host whether a firewall or security rule (such as ModSecurity) is blocking the request, and confirm max_execution_time is at least 120 seconds.

define( 'WP_DEBUG', true );
define( 'WP_DEBUG_LOG', true );
define( 'WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false );

Step 4: If the issue persists

Please provide your System Info (WP Admin > Cornerstone > System Info), any browser console errors, the status code and response from Step 2, and any related lines from debug.log for further analysis.
