Serious / Critical Issues with Updating Pro Themes

guys I cannot take it any longer everytime i update a client the site break and sites are down for hours as it is a critical error and I have to get hosting support involved to restore

this cannot keep happening it is ruining my reputation

what is going on with these updates? i am super upset about this has been going on for months and it is every single site I have it is terrible

never have I had a theme act this way or a plugin even

I need a solution to access the sites when you theme breaks this is unacceptable

What errors are you getting? Is this the WordPress 6.2 issue? As long as your running Pro 5 the second WordPress updates to 6.2 you’re going to get locked out due to the infinite loop issue. Here’s a link to entering recovery mode which can help if your site has emailing enabled. Let me know how we can help.

critical error it happens every single time i update wordpress and clients are super pissed off

so what do i have to do update pro theme first to avoid this?

i switched to 2023 theme and pro does not say it needs to be updated, if i turn pro back on it breaks

This is my clients website and it look horrible. It has been like this for over 24 hours.

You need to update Pro first before updating WordPress, or don’t update WordPress or Pro. There are ways to disable WordPress auto updates as well. I’d also recommend spinning up a staging site first too. Uploading an older version of WordPress is also an option. If that site is already on 6.2 you can Pro6. You probably aren’t seeing Pro updates because the site isn’t validated since Pro isn’t running, so you’ll need to do a manual upload this time then after validation the site should be fine. Downloads in https://theme.co/account/dashboard . Let me know if this helps.

I did do a manual upload. You do see this as a problem right? I can’t setup staging for 100 sites because your Pro themes developers messed up.

This sucks major.

There essentially is no resolution and there hasn’t been all year long this issues is ongoing.

You are saying, hey, deal with it, spend 10 hours per site to figure out because I don’t care.

Pro themes doesn’t care about the mess they made.

The issue exists as far back as Pro3 from what I could tell. WordPress use to do one thing, now it does another. It’s very unfortunate it caused an infinite loop. I am Pro theme developer so you can speak directly to me as well for feedback. You don’t need to manually upload if you update Pro first before WordPress, but you are going to keep having this issue if update WordPress first or have WordPress auto updates on. The code issue was fixed in Pro6 which is a resolution for most.

i was giving benefit of the doubt on the timeframe it has been a very long time issue

I am having my server company write a script to update all of the installs of pro theme, and then another script to update wp after, but they should not have to do that

pro theme should not have released the updates with out a solution to the issue

you told me to get a staging, did pro themes not have a staging and discover this issue before release on 3-6 version releases

putting on the customer to know what version they have of wp and theme and jockey back and forth and this instruction for this version and this version for that

like I said, in 20 years I have never had an issue like this with a theme or a plugin

pro has created a massive mess and I am too far involved with your company to leave and I am paying $$$$ for it major

No because those Pro version happened several years before WordPress 6.2. Like I said WordPress made a change that caused this issue on older versions of Pro. We fixed Pro 6 within a day of it’s discovery. This same thing would happen if you updated PHP on a very old theme or plugin. We had this come up many of times before, but nothing on our end updated to cause this issue on your end. I’m right there with you, I’ve seen databases go down that were less catastrophic then this WordPress update. Frankly we sent emails about this month ago so you are a little late to the party. I understand the frustration, I’ve outlined how to escape the issue. Just update Pro to V6 before WordPress and the issue will not happen to you. Let me know how else I can help you.
