EDITED: I bought and installed Pro yesterday, then started working my way through the documenation.
Here’s the Pro home menu in the Dashboard Options section:
And here it is on my dashboard. Note that the image in the “automatic updates” pane shows the menu indicator to the left of the word “Pro”, while in the actual dashboard, on the left, there’s an icon.
Does the screen shot of my dashboard look correct? Am I correct that the “Status” page no longer exists? If it has been moved, please let me know the new location.
When I didn’t see the Pro menu, I searched the forum and the web for answers. I went through standard troubleshooting steps:
De-activated all plugins, emptied browser cache, and re-loaded the page.
Re-installed via the WordPress installer, using the same downloaded zip file and over-writing the existing install.
De-activated Pro. Deleted via FTP and then uploaded a newly-downloaded Pro folder.
Logged out and back in.
Increased PHP memory limit to 512 MB by editing wp-config.php. Called my hosting service and they also added it to user.ini file.
Tried logging in via different browsers - Safari, Brave on macOS Monterey (all software is latest).
Then I stumbled on a forum post which had eluded my previous searches, saying that the interface had been changed. Unfortunately, it wasn’t very specific.
It appears that the documentation is out-of-date. As a newcomer to Themeco, I find this very concerning. I have no way of knowing which parts are still valid, and I don’t want to waste more time trying to figure that out.
Details matter, especially in a field where something as small as missing tag can break a site.
