Preview was unresponsive after loading - Sometimes loads sometimes doesn't

I keep getting error “preview was unresponsive due to aggressive cacheing or plugin conflict”.
I don’t use any cache plugin. The only service is Cloudflare’s which I’ve purged its cache every time.
Weird thing is that the page previews show, but editing them don’t load half the time.
I’ve disabled and enabled all my plug-ins and the only suspect looks to be Slider Revolution. But it always worked before and I need it for the website.

What happens:

  • Page preview shows okay when looking through Theme Options
  • Page preview shows when going through X > Cornerstone > clicking to preview different pages
  • Editing page doesn’t work on pages with Rev Slider in them, no matter what path I take to get to the edit page. And purging chache on Cloudflare sometimes resolves the issue and sometimes it doesn’t.

For Slider Revolution:
It shows that there is a new update available. But I’ve read in previous forums there is no need for a separate registration or license to the update, and that X theme is supposed to take care of the update.

I’m also getting the “iframe response being incomplete” error on the Woocommerce Checkout page, and only on that page.

Please help!

Hello Ari,

  • Testing for Plugin Conflict
  • Theme Update

Hi Ruenel.

Appreciate the reply. Of all the troubleshooting suggestions, I’ve verified all of them are okay except for:

  • verifying PHP memory limit
  • disabling CDN

I’m having the above verified and will report back here if the problem persists.

For now, the only way I can edit the page is by going through X > Cornerstone > Preview Page, and then click on edit. Any other method I get the same error.

Hi Ari,

Sound’s like performance issue, are you on shared hosting? This issue is common on shared hosting since the resources are shared among multiple sites on same machine.

And please let us know what you find

Thanks!

Hi Rad,

The website’s hosted on a dedicated server. I never had this issue before until the latest wordpress update rolled out last week or so. I’m getting the PHP memory and CDN settings checked out and will report back here what I find.

Thanks.

Hi Ari,

Yes, PHP memory limit and CDN could be causing the issue, you mentioned above the Cloudflare, can you Purge All Cloudflare’s cache directly from the CloudFlare dashboard (not via plugin), then set it to Development Mode for a while.

Another thing, if you’re on PHP 7.4, is it possible downgrading that to PHP 7.2?

Let us know how it goes,
Cheers!
