Hi. I am using Pro and MEC to set up an events website. I was able to use dynamic content and shortcodes to set up a custom events archive that works very well and looks really good. However, there appears to be no option to similarly set up a single post template for events. I can only use MEC’s default template. This template is so bad that it really ins’t an option. My clients want a sophisticated website, and the MEC single-mec-events.php template looks too cheap and ugly.

From what I can tell, there is the option for an Elementor module to be added that will allow for editing and styling of the single template. However, I’m obviously working in Cornerstone, and don’t want to now also work in elementor.

Does Theme.co offer any way to be able to edit or style or set up the MEC single page in any way? Or is Elementor the only option?

You can use the Layout builder to create a custom single layout for the events’ custom post types. Please have a look at the doc to learn more about how to create a single layout.

After creating the single layout, you need to assign the layout as well. Please have a look at this doc to learn more about how to assign the single layout.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I already know how to create single or archive templates and how to assign post types to them.

The problem is that none of the dynamic content for Modern Events Calendar that are available for the archive is available for the single page builder. I have searched everywhere for an answer. Google and the AIs say that a single layout can’t be created for MEC using Pro like I created the archive. It says I have no other choice than to use the ugly, clumsy MEC default template (not an option).

Is that true?

I need confirmation from Theme. co whether a single page template can actually be built for the Modern Events Calendar single-mec-events.php post type. Or whether I will have to buy the Elementor add-on (I would very much prefer to do this in Pro if at all possible, I hate Elementor, and the rest of my website is also in Pro).

Hello Minki,

We do not have MEC-specific dynamic content that you can use in building the custom MEC single layout. What you can do is use the Post Meta dynamic content to display the event details. For example, to display the Event Start Date, you can have: {{dc:post:meta key="mec_start_date"}}
