hi there,
i have a strange problem. i use pro and no header-builder.
when the menu is not the hamburger menu and fully visible on an ipad-mini in horizontal mode the main buttons/pages (only the ones which have submenus) can’t be visited. touching them does do nothing. i tested on 2 independed ipad-minis!
on a desktop browser (i tried a few) everything works fine. also on a bigger ipad in horizontal mode.
please have a look in the secure note.
thanks a lot! kai
Hey Kai,
On mobile devices where the desktop menu is shown, you really can’t open the link because it will open the submenu. You can’t have 2 actions at the same time. That’s not possible.
If you notice on desktop, you have the hover action to open the submenu so the click action is free to open the link. You don’t have hover on mobile so opening the submenu relies on the tap action.
The only solution here is to create a header using Pro Header Builder so you can create 2 menus. 1 for desktop using the Navigation Inline element and 1 for mobile using the mobile navigation elements like the Off Canvas element with Navigation Collapsed element inside it.
Once those elements are added, hide mobile navigation using the Hide During Breakpoints feature only on the largest size.
Hide the desktop navigation starting from the Laptop size down to the lowest responsive view so you’ll see the mobile navigation on tablet size screens.
Hope that helps.
hi christian,
thanks so much for your helpful and detailed reply!!!
but since i already have 2 menus in in the theme without the header builder i wonder why not just move the breakpoint in my current installation with some css wizardery? why would i have to rebuild the header in pro just for being able to define the breakpoints?
thanks again for your input! all the best! kai
Hi Kai,
Modifying the Breakpoints would cause more trouble because a lot of feature follow those breakpoints.
It’s either you rebuild the navigations on your Header like Christian suggested. Or re-organize your menu by adding all items as sub-menu and the top-level items will just be a placeholder/trigger.
Thanks,
dear friech,
thanks for your reply! re-organizing the menu seems to be the easiest way for now. i figured so
i have another funny problem with the site:
the “Blog” page is showing only the first 12 posts even after clicking on forward (weiter) at the bottom of the page. the navigation. there should be almost 50 posts on 4 pages but only the first 12 are being shown for 4 times…
i will add the admin to the secure note for you to have a quick look.
thanks a lot and best wishes, kai
Hi @iTurtle,
Post Pagination element is supposed to be use on native archive page. Its not going to work with a custom looper.
Blog page like archive has its own looper, so you dont need this looper provider on one of your column.
Please turn off that Looper Provider, but the leave the Looper consumer as is. Doing that should make the Post Pagination element work properly.
Thanks,
dear friech,
thanks for the explanation!
where do i find the looper provider of the blog page, though?
i need one categorie not being displayed…
thanks a lot again! kai
Hey Kai,
It looks like you already removed the Looper Provider because I only see the Consumer in your setup so now your pagination is working. By working, I mean it’s unlike what you said that the posts are repeated.
Since now need to exclude 1 category, you will now need to enable the Looper Provider again specifically the Posts element.
This time, the Looper Provider must be set to Query Builder.
Then in the Query Builder options, set the Taxonomies to exclude your category like in the screenshot below.
Remember that mixing topics in a thread is strongly discouraged because it often causes confusion down the road. If you have any more unrelated questions, please open separate threads for each topic.
Thanks.
dear christian,
thanks for the detailed explanation!
i did as you suggested. this time with the “posts” layer. what you describe is what i did before with the “post” layer.
but the result is the same. now only the first 12 posts are being shown again and again.
did i miss something?
thanks again and best wishes, kai
Hey Kai,
Friech mentioned previously that if you use the Looper Provider, the pagination will not work. I assumed you remember that. You will need to choose if you’re going to proceed with excluding a category or using the pagination. If you choose the former, please delete the Post Navigation element from the layout.
If you wish to increase the post number which is currently 12, go to Settings > Reading and update the blog posts number.
Thanks.
dear christian,
that is bad news now for me.
of course i have not forgotten what friech wrote.
but why did you then suggest to turn the looper provider on again when i clearly said that i need one category excluded on the blog page?
i thought there was a differens between the looper provider in posts and post (see the layers). you choose the posts layer and i used the post layer in the beginning.
so there is no solution for the blog page in this case? i can’t have one category excluded and still have the post navigation element active?
thanks again! kai
Hey Kai,
To exclude a category, you need to turn the looper provider on. There’s no way around that.
Regretfully, that is the case. It could be possible with 3rd party plugins or custom coding but that would fall outside the scope of theme support.
We now have One service where we provide customization guidance. You might want to consider subscribing. You can learn more about One here https://theme.co/one.
dear christian,
thanks again for your fast reply!
i found a plugin which does the trick
best wishes, kai
Hi Kai,
We’re glad that you’re able to find a solution to your issue. If you have any other concerns or clarifications regarding our theme features, feel free to open up a new thread.
Thank you.
