Installed auto theme not matching Demo example

I’ve added the Revolution Slider and Contact Form 7 as suggested here (I installed Auto Demo - doesn't match http://demo.theme.co/auto/)

However, now it says “oops slider not found” in the header

Can you help me set up my site http://edinburgh-driving-schools.com/ as in the auto demo https://demo.theme.co/auto/ please?

I’ve read through various docs looking for help and then I saw that the paid support option which I selected should allow me to get help making mine look like the demo. Thanks!

There are also images missing from the NEWS page posts (and no option on mine to leave a comment). I did install the site TWICE or THRICE and deleted pages inbetween. Then I read that adding &clean-cache after the url of the site would allow a fresh install. So that’s worked for the missing home page, etc but now I have the images missing for the NEWS posts.

Also, how do I register the license key for Revolution Slider? I have tried entering the purchase code from Envato (themeForest) but it says license key is invalid. I was pretty sure Rev Slider came “free” with X that I’ve just purchased. Can you advise please?

PS When trying to re-install the auto site, as well as adding &clean-cache to url, I also deleted all the media library (so I didn’t end up with double images or so I thought)… this is probably how I am missing the news post images. Anyway, I’m willing to do a fresh install again if you can talk me through it or whatever you think I need to do.

PPS Having never done any of this before (though I have managed regular HTML/CSS websites), I uploaded the x.zip file to my wordpress site but I’m not sure what to do with all the other zip files that came in the extensions folder within the x_package folder. Can you please clarify if these are needed or not?

Lots of questions, I know.

Hello Helen,

Thanks for writing in!

Just for future topics, self responding or bumping your post pushes it back in our Queue system so it takes longer to respond to.

1.) The demo is actually the same. The problem is that the images do not load. Your server may have prevented it from loading or wasn’t imported properly.

2.) You do not need to register the Revolution Slider. This is a bundled plugin. We will be the ones who will provide plugin updates and support for this plugin. Kindly check out this documentation:

3.) To do a fresh install, simply install WP Reset plugin.

4.) Yes, only the x.zip file needs to be uploaded in the Appearance > Themes. The other files are the bundled plugins.

Best Regards.

Thank you Ruenel

It was really helpful to know about the WP Reset plugin. I reset the site and then re-installed the auto site and it works.

There seem to be no connections to any of the read more and book appointment links in the Auto theme - how do I make them forward to appropriate places (and do those pages exist or is that for me to create)? If it’s just a case of adding a link to these elements in cornerstone - as a beginner, what is the easiest way to do that? I presume I need to create the blog posts or pages first?

Note: the VIEW ALL NEWS button on the auto site theme takes the user to an oops! error page (I’m assuming the design team will want to know about this an fix it).

I would like to use the VIEW ALL REVIEWS button to link to a testimonials page. What is your recommended approach for this X-themed site to creating/adding a testimonials page. My existing testimonial page looks like this https://www.drivings-cool.com/guestbook/gbook.php it is based on this https://www.phpjunkyard.com/php-guestbook-script.php . I appreicated you won’t be familiar with it however, if you could recommend a plugin or three for WP that would allow me to import my existing customer’s comments from a txt file that would be GREAT!

Lastly, I currently use a jotform to collect customer data when making appointments. Again, I’m looking for your recommendations for the top 3 plugins that would work well or come provided with X that would allow me to either connect my jotform (my preferred option) or start fresh ?

Thanks Helen

Hi Helen,

There seem to be no connections to any of the read more and book appointment links in the Auto theme - how do I make them forward to appropriate places (and do those pages exist or is that for me to create)? If it’s just a case of adding a link to these elements in cornerstone - as a beginner, what is the easiest way to do that? I presume I need to create the blog posts or pages first?

You need to create a landing page first then add the link to the button element.

Note: the VIEW ALL NEWS button on the auto site theme takes the user to an oops! error page (I’m assuming the design team will want to know about this an fix it).

You also need to create a News landing page and the link to the View all news button like the example above.

Unfortunately, there’s no such plugin that will import your existing customer’s comments from a text file. I suggest that you add your testimonial manually.

Lastly, I currently use a jotform to collect customer data when making appointments. Again, I’m looking for your recommendations for the top 3 plugins that would work well or come provided with X that would allow me to either connect my jotform (my preferred option) or start fresh ?

You can still use your jotform and just embed the code using Embed Form Plugin.

Hope that helps.

Thank you.
