How do I get style blog posts and lists of Posts such that they match my Pages?

Hi there,

I just switched from X theme to Pro theme with the hope that I could solve the problem I’m having.

I have a page edited by Cornerstone that shows a variety of Posts:

https://humanventure.com/resources/people-we-meet/

But when you click on a post (for example):

https://humanventure.com/2024/09/30/from-droughts-to-downpours-tricia-stadnyk/

The header is totally different. I don’t seem to have the ability to control how the header looks, or add breadcrumbs like I have for all the Pages. Also, the title of the Post doesn’t match the formatting of my Pages. The problem is that once visitors go to a Post, they can’t get back to the Page with the list of Posts (no breadcrumbs).

So my list of questions:

  • How do I style the headers for Posts so that I can match it with my Pages?
  • How do I style the title of the Posts so that they match my Pages?
  • How do I add breadcrumbs that connects this Post to the Page it just came from?
  • How do I style the Post body so that it matches my Pages?

I’ve been searching the forum posts, but feel like I’m missing something pretty fundamental. Thanks so much for any advice!

Hello @jlow00,

Thanks for writing in!

1.) The page, https://humanventure.com/resources/people-we-meet/, the breadcrumb and the “Interview Series” title was inserted on the page. It is not added as a custom header. You will need to create a custom header. Please check out the Header Builder first:

Please take note of the different Builders and how you can use it:

  • Layout Builder: This is to create a custom archive and single post layouts.
  • Header Builder: Creates a custom header
  • Footer Builder: Creates a custom footer
  • Page Builder: Allows you to edit a post or a page. The post contents will then be inside the single post layout if you have define a layout.

Please check out our video tutorials:

Best Regards.

This is so amazing! Thanks for all the resources. I see how I can use Layout Builder to build my own archive index for various post. Exactly what I’m looking for. A couple more questions:

  • This must be a back to basics question, but when I create a blog layout, I still have this blue “Latest” bar that shows up. See https://humanventure.com/blog/. I’m not sure where this is heading bar is coming from. Will this be eliminated when I create my own header with the Header Builder?

  • I noticed some conveniences in the video I don’t see in my menu. For example, if I’m looking for a dynamic content variable, the video shows there is a little database button you can click on next to the field. I don’t have that. Like I couldn’t find the dynamic code for Author and Categories easily.

  • I also don’t have a convenient Pro menu in WordPress dashboard. When I click on “Pro” in the sidebar, I only see a Validation and Email Forms menu option underneath it. I am on version 6.5.8.

Hello @jlow00,

I tried to access your site but the given URL is not working on my end due to IP restrictions. Please disable the restrictions so we can check it on our end and guide you properly.

Thanks

Sorry about that. Didn’t even know we had an IP blocker. I have temporarily removed the IP Blocker. Further to my question, the blue bar I’m seeing at the top with “Latest Updates” is definitely the Archive page title. If I clicked on the term “Interview”, then I’ll see “Interview”. I’d like to know where I can control how that’s formatted and displayed or even remove it altogether.

Thanks again for your help.

Hey @jlow00,

The “Latest Updates” is the Landmark Header which is part of the default header. If you want to get rid of the Landmark Header, you must create a custom header and assign it for the blog index and archive pages.

Please make sure to enable the Dynamic Content when in the builder.

The Pro menu has changed. The video is using an older version.

Best Regards.
