Font styles - why does this have to be so damn complicated...?

Hi,

I’m not a programmer but a power user. I want to change the preset font styles on a page in Cornerstone. I spent the last HOUR reading your documentation… and I still have no idea HOW do do this. Your details on Text are completely useless - the page goes on for miles and miles about obscure and complicated formatting options… but not a peep about how to change the default font sizes.

To be specific:

  • I inserted a Text element
  • I pasted my copy into it
  • I can select different font presets (Paragraph, Heading 1, Heading 2, etc.) but after browsing your documentation for an hour, I have NO IDEA how I can change these presets.

For example, if I want my H1 to be a different size, WHERE do I set that?

If I want to add a new preset, e.g. “Bold text”, where do I add that?

I can’t believe how complicated this is. It seems like there is some insider jargon I must know or search for something else in your documentation because none of the keywords (you know, standard terminology about fonts, presets, styles, etc.) brought up any documentation about this.

Maybe you should think like a newbie when you write your documentation, not like a programmer… searching for TEXT STYLES or TEXT FORMATTING should answer these questions… but it doesn’t. This is extremely frustrating.

Same issue, same question.

Never mind. I found the answer to my issue from another post; advanced mode must be enabled.

Hi @blog42 ,

Thanks for reaching out!

To change the text or headlines styling, you can check this articles below.

Please note, If you are using the X theme, you need to enable the Advanced Mode because by default it is not activated on X.

@mikesooch

We’re glad that you’re able to figure out your issue. If you have any other concerns or clarifications regarding our theme features, feel free to open up a new thread.

Thank you.

Thank you but none of that answers my question. Can you refer me to a SPECIFIC answer anywhere in those documents (or elsewhere) that actually answers my question? None of the documents you linked have any reference to this issue.

By turning on advanced mode, I can now change font styles directly from the Inspector, but I still don’t know how to change the style presets I mentioned in my original question.

Can you please describe in a step-by-step manner how I can change the preset text styles (e.g. Paragraph, Heading 1, Heading 2, etc.) that appear in the context popup menu when I select text in a block?

Hello @blog42,

To enable the Advanced mode go to any page or theme option click on the hamburger icon —>Prefeneces —>Advance mode
Checkout-Content-X

To change the Font-family go to any element —>Text Format —>Font-family
Front-Page-Content-X (3)

In case if you did not set any font on the element the font is rendered from the theme option —>Typogrphy

Hope it helps
Thanks
