Element Size In Grid Cell

Hi,

I am using the Cell Layout Editor in Pro to add a new cell to a grid, no problem and I can move the cell around to place it on the grid or resize it. Easy. My problem is when I add an element to the cell like Text or a Button, the is huge and not constrained in the cell. If there something I am missing to have the Element fit in the cell.

Thanks.

Hello @PridePathDesign,

Thank you for reaching out.

  1. Check the Grid’s Column and Row templates – select the parent Grid and open its Layout controls. If the columns or rows use small fixed sizes (for example px or rem), they will be smaller than the content you place in them. Use 1fr for columns and auto for rows so each Cell has room for its content.

  2. Size the element itself, not the Cell – a Cell sets where an element is placed, but it does not shrink the element. Text and Buttons keep their own font size and padding. Reduce the element’s font size, padding and width in its own controls. To shrink everything in one Cell at once, lower the Cell’s Setup > Base Font Size (for example, from 1em to 0.75em), since most element sizes are based on it.

  3. Keep content inside the Cell – by default, a Cell’s minimum width is 0px and its Overflow is visible, so anything wider than the Cell shows outside its edges. Set Setup > Overflow to hidden to clip it, and turn on Flexbox under the Cell’s Design controls to align and center the element within the Cell.
