Critical error when installing x theme

Hi team,
I have just purchased my own version of X theme for a new website project. (amateur builder here)
I have used it successfully on my own website for many years hence the decision to purchase it for this project.

After install when hitting “activation” I am hit with the “critical error” message that prevents me from getting back into my wordpress dashboard and the only way back in is by deleting the theme in my file manager on cPanel which reverts back to an auto wordpress theme. I’m at attempt 4 now and ready to throw my laptop.

I’ve not yet been able to even add my product code to the theme to activate it within wordpress. What could be causing this critical error?

The website I am trying to activate it on is not live, it is set up as a draft/wordpress instance alongside an existing website that uses a different theme. Is it possible that there is conflict here?

Please help.
Thank you
Annie

Hello Annie,

Thanks for using our X theme. Kindly check out this documentation with regard to the most common issues.

And please make sure that you are using the latest versions:

  • X theme 10.3.8
  • Cornerstone 7.3.8
  • PHP 8.X
  • WordPress 6.3

Best Regards.

Thank you Ruenel, I would like to be able to work through the troubleshooting but I can’t physically get back in to wordpress to be able to disable the theme at all. I can only delete it in my file manager in order to get back into my wordpress dashboard. Is this normal?

I should add, I have a blank wordpress that I am working with. It contains no plugins/themes other than the initial wordpress 2021 and 2023.

I am following the correct steps for install, and all versions as stated above are up to date. The key thing is i am able to upload the theme file and as soon as I hit activate it throws the error.

There is no screen that pops up and says “you’re almost finished, please enter your product key” I don’t get there at all.

@ruenel I am completely unable to access wordpress after I hit activate x theme. This is the error.

Please goodness somebody tell me what I am doing wrong. :sob:

As soon as I hit activate, I get the critical error above.
@ruenel

Hi Annie,

It seems that you might be having a similar issue in the following thread.

I would suggest you check the PHP version and also the Critical Errors from Tools > Site Health. If that does not help, please provide login credentials for your site in a secure note to examine it further, including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password
– FTP/CPanel credentials to access the files.

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.

Thanks
