Cornerstone Creating Elements or Outlines Not Working

Hi,

I’ve seen a few articles on this topic but they are from a handful of versions ago.

I am currently unable to add any new section manually or through a template. When I try, the section is filled with a single column and a message “Undefined Element: This element could not render because it’s definition is missing. You might need to activate a plugin.”

I am running the latest versions available:
X Theme v8.2.0
Cornerstone v5.2.0

I also have the latest versions for:
Essential Grid v6.4.2
Revolution Slider v3.0.11

This was an issue in the last couple of versions as well. Am I missing something? Are there any other plugins that need to be activated as suggested? Is there some other issue? I’m completely blocked at the moment.

Hi @levinsonid,

Thanks for reaching out.
I have tried but unable to replicate the issue you explained, there might be some different reason behind your reason, I would like to suggest troubleshoot the following common issue to help us to recognize the reason.

1.Plugin Conflict
2.Theme Update related issue
3.CSS/JS Customization

If you discover that an issue is coming from a custom code or 3rd party plugin, kindly consult with a developer or contact the plugin author. Please note that we do not provide support for custom codes and 3rd party plugins.
If that does not resolve the issue, there might be an incompatibility between X and Cornerstone. I would suggest you follow the below steps and install the Cornerstone once again, by following the below steps.

  1. Delete the existing Cornerstone plugin from Appearance > Plugin
  2. After deletion of the Cornerstone, please use the link in the dashboard to automatically install the Cornerstone.

If none that does not helps, can you please provide login credentials for your site in a secure note to examine it further, including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.

Thanks

Hey @tristup,

I’ve tried everything on the list.
-All plugins are off
-Everything is at the latest version
-There is no custom code
-I removed Cornerstone and reinstalled it
Still no luck

Hi @levinsonid,

I couldn’t find this issue on your site so maybe you’ve changed something or I just wasn’t on the right page. I apologize about this, but I suspect the Undefined Element is because of an issue where Cornerstone didn’t have the Grid element removed during our automatic bundling process. Pro and Cornerstone are built in the same code base and it was supposed to remove the Grid element but there were a few releases that this didn’t happen. So the Grid was mistakenly included with X and Cornerstone.

It looks like you started using the element in that time, and when you updated to more recent version of Cornerstone the element was removed. I’m sorry again for the inconvenience here. What you can do to correct it is go to your X license in your dashboard and use the convert to Pro option (free offer on your license). Then you can install Pro and the Grid will come back.

Super weird, I just did the same exact thing and it still happens for me.
1)I create a new page
2)Click “Section +” to add a new section
3)The error in the image above shows up.

Anyway, When I install Pro, does that mean I should use Grid instead of Cornerstone or can I use both?
To be clear you are referring to the “The Grid” plugin and not the “Essential Grid” plugin, right?

Ah!

I installed Pro, I went to a page in my list and selected “edit with pro”
(“Edit with Cornerstone” was no longer an available option and I didn’t see any option to edit with grid either)
Is that how it’s supposed to be? Ie. Can only use pro to edit?

In any case, it works! This thing is pretty slick and so much easier now.

Thanks @tristup and @alexander
