Change text on home page

Hello,
I have two questions:

1. How do I change the text on the homepage ?
https://www.museumplanner.org/

I would like to change the text:

" Articles
Free museum resources created by Museum PLanning, LLC"

2. Is it popular to have most popular posts at the top of blog page ?

Thank you,
-Mark

Hey Mark,

The text is coming from Theme Options > Integrity > Blog Subtitle. You can change it there.

Regretfully, we can’t comment regarding popular post as that depends on several factors such as type of content. We recommend hiring a content manager for this.

Hope that helps.

Dear @christian,

Thank you for the reply !

In my previous theme I could use a widget that showed popular posts:

and I could create “Featured” posts at the top of the page:

Can the X theme do the same ?

Thank you !
-Mark

Hello Mark,

Regretfully we do not have a feature that displays the most popular posts. You may need a 3rd party plugin for it.

For the Post Slider, you can use our bundled plugin Revolution Slider to create featured post slider

Hi @PrakashS,

How do I add search in the top menu ?

Hello @d2b5d075_a5a7_43d8_a281_1f486e3d31e9,

To add a search menu item, kindly go to X > Theme Options > Header > Search and enable the Navbar Search menu item.

We would love to know if this has worked for you. Thank you.

Dear @PrakashS,
Thank you ! I removed the background image.

How do I remove the double image at the top of this post ?
https://www.museumplanner.org/a-future-of-museums/

You will see there is a duplicate of the image at the top of the post. I would like to delete the top image and keep only the image with the caption.

Thank you !

Hi Mark,

There’s no option in our theme options to remove the featured image in the single post pages. To remove the featured image in single post pages, we need to add a little CSS code, please add this code to your X > Theme Options > CSS.

.single-post .has-post-thumbnail .entry-featured {
    display: none;
}

Please note that custom development is outside the scope of our support. Issues that might arise from the use of custom code and further enhancements should be directed to a third-party developer.

Hope that helps.

Thank you.

Dear @cramaton,

Dear @cramaton,
Is there a way to install a widget in the header ? I would like to install the Jetpack Google Translate in the header so it is visible on smartphones. But, the theme says:

Your theme has 3 other widget areas, but this particular page doesn’t display them.

You can navigate to other pages on your site while using the Customizer to view and edit the widgets displayed on those pages.

Trying to install widget on the home page, https://www.museumplanner.org/

Hello @d2b5d075_a5a7_43d8_a281_1f486e3d31e9,

You can only insert a widget in the header widget area which will appear if you click the + icon.

  • You can go to Appearance > Widgets and insert the Jetpack Google Translate in Header 1 widget area.
  • Go to X > Theme Options > Header > Widget Bar and select how many widget columns to display.

Regretfully you cannot add a widget area in the header that is always visible on the page.

Hope this helps.

Dear Ruenel,
Thank you, for the reply.

Is there another place that I can put a translation widget in the top of the home page, so it shows above the latest posts on a smartphone ?

I tried putting Jetpack Google Translate in the WidgetBar, but it is not showing up. I can place other widgets in the Widgetbar but for some reason the Jetpack Google Translate is not showing up.

Otherwise someone needs to scroll to below the posts to find the translation widget.

Thank you,

  • Mark

Hi Mark,

There are no such options to add any widgets or shortcodes inside the header within the X theme. Alternatively, you can have the Header & Footer builder to create multiple customize headers, where you can add any elements as you can in the Content Builder.
I would like to suggest you upgrade the X to Pro theme to have different customized header options. Please read this article to upgrade: https://theme.co/docs/converting-from-x-to-pro

Regarding the JetPack Google Translate plugin, please let us know what is the exact issue you are having. I would also suggest you try a few other plugins from the WordPress repository: https://wordpress.org/plugins/search/google+translate+widget
If none of the above helps, please provide the following site details in a secure note.

– Link to your WordPress site
– WordPress Admin username / password

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.

Thanks
