Broken Stuff

Hello Themeco Team,
I’ve just updated to 4.01. It’s broken a couple of things on my site…
Most notably… Everywhere I have a single product - They are all now squashed and not filling the spaces they filled prior to the update.
I’m using the ‘Crafty’ theme on top of Pro.

I use these single products all over my site (ie thousands of them everywhere) - so unless this is something that can be resolved as a matter of urgency and globally? I will need to roll back my Pro version until you’ve finished Beta testing it. Is that possible?

Help appreciated.

Hi @OZLIGHT,

Thanks for reaching out.

It is advisable that you made a backup before you update any plugins, themes and WordPress core so that you have a revert point. I suggest that you will stick with the stable version of Pro, you may manually delete the new Pro version and download the stable version of Pro 3.2.3 in your themeco dashboard.

Hope that helps.

Thank you.

Thanks.
I rolled back to 3.2.3 before your reply. I’ve also just tried again with 4.0.4 - Same issue remains (rolled back again now). Could somebody let me know when the Beta testing’s been done (or this specific issue has been resolved) & i’ll try again.
Cheers
Dave

I had the same issue.

Are you calling those items using the WooCommerce shortcode ([product id = “####”])?

If so, I was able to resolve it by adding ‘columns = “1”’ to the shortocode. My use of the shortcode was few and far between so I was able to manually update, but maybe try it and if it fixes it do a database search and replace?

Hi @OZLIGHT,

Can you please copy your live site to a staging server so we could update the theme to the latest version without breaking your live site and investigate it further?
And give us access in the secure note including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password
– FTP/CPanel access

Thanks

Yes. Fantastic… Thank You.

Hello @tristup,
That’s a bit beyond me i’m afraid. But as @comdoc_marketing suggested I do use the woocommerce shortcode for a single product & have no doubt their solution would fix the issue as each single product after your update looks like it’s squashed into a ¼ or ⅓ column. Is that something you can resolve/beta test amongst yourselves & get back to me when it’s working? I’m sure there will be more than just the 2 of us who use the woocommerce shortcodes as I haven’t found a better way of getting a single product onto a page (if one exists?) - Is there a better way to get a specific single product onto a page without using the old woocommerce shortcodes?
Thanks again.
Dave

PS… A lot of my single products are using plain woocommerce shortcodes inside a text input - PRO (as per my 1st photo). But a lot more (any on Post or Portfolio pages) are done with the Single Product code that comes with the WP Bakery Plugin - If that helps? (2nd Photo) - Same issue on both.

PPS… i took v4.05 out for a very brief spin just now. Same issue still. I guess you guys are currently overwhelmed with your entire customer base complaining of newly broken websites.

Also… In 4.0.5 Attempting to edit any page in PRO I just got stuck with the spinning wheel. I was able to get round this issue the other day by disabling WP Rocket & Asset CleanUp Pro, but that’s not an option long term so i’m working under the assumption you will make all this newly broken stuff work again?

Cheers
Dave

Hello @ruenel
I’ve just tried v4.0.6
The issue with the Woocommerce Single Product Shortcode has not been resolved - ie all single products are squashed into the space of a ¼ column.

The back-end issue has also not been resolved. All I see is the spinning wheel.
I am able to get around the back-end issue by disabling a specific feature within the Asset Clean-Up Pro Plugin.
That feature is: [Move All <SCRIPT> tags From HEAD to BODY]
This is a feature that has always worked until your inadequately tested update & it’s not a feature I want to keep disabled because it affects the overall page loading speed of my site.

I’m not in the habit of dishing out admin rights to my website. These issues are not mine alone. So please use somebody else to beta test & let me know when they are resolved.

Many Thanks
Dave

Hi Dave,

I’m not in the habit of dishing out admin rights to my website. These issues are not mine alone. So please use somebody else to beta test & let me know when they are resolved.

At this point, usually outstanding issues are edge cases that we solve by seeing how things interact on different customer sites. I understand if it’s not possible to login to your site, so at this point you’ll just have to keep an eye out for future updates.

Hi Alexander,
Great, will do. Though both these issues appear to be fairly common with this update (from what i’m reading on these boards). I.E. I’m not the only person to mention either of them. If you need back-end access to fix something on my site specifically that was working perfectly before a major general update release? That sets off all kinds of alarm bells in my mind especially for the future. Is the single woocommerce product shortcode for example working correctly on anyone’s site after this update?
I’m happy to help in any other way I can. I’m just not happy to hand over admin rights on a site every time someone updates and breaks a theme or a plugin.
Cheers
Dave

Hi Dave,

Most of what you’re reading on other threads are symptoms of similar issues but we usually can’t confirm a root cause until we login to some sites and check directly. While it may sound like the same issue, there’s really no telling exactly what’s wrong with out first hand confirmation. In cases where we can’t immediately reproduce an issue on our development sites, we ask to login so we can see it first hand. This is how we can quickly address issues otherwise we are left to speculate on what could be going wrong.

We were able to get the WooCommerce shortcode issue corrected. In this release we stopped overriding the WooCommerce loop start/end templates and used a filter instead which works for all the shop indexes. What you’re seeing with the shortcode now is actually the native WooCommerce behavior (what it does in all themes). Oddly they output the default shop column count even for a single product. We’ve added a filter that will set the column count to 1 if it isn’t declared but only using the singular product shortcode.

Hi Alexander,
OK, great. The single product issue wasn’t fixed when I last checked (4.0.6 - This Morning) - Is there another update i’m not seeing yet?
Cheers
Dave

Not yet, you are on the latest version as of this moment. You can track the latest versions, status reports, and confirmed issues here: https://theme.co/content/pro4-x8-cornerstone5#status

Hello Team,
Well Done! & Thank You!
4.0.7 Fixed my main issue! (Woocommerce Shortcodes) - So i’ve left it up & running. The back-end issue (which still quite a few other people seem to have) - As I mentioned, I can get round by disabling that specific function inside Asset Clean-Up Pro (Moving JS from head to body). There is still the odd moment of weird stuff flashing up on some pages on 1st visit that wasn’t there before this update, but overall it’s looking great.
Many Thanks
Dave
PS If you’re taking future requests onboard? I’d love a way to get my specific single products onto pages without having to use old woocommerce shortcodes inside text fields - Using Pro. (Unless i’m missing something - That’s still the only way to do it)

Hello Dave,

Your feedback has been noted.

By the way, have you checked out our Layout Builder? This will allow you to create your own custom layout for the single product page and the shop page. This is also made possible with the dynamic content and looper content feature. With the Looper feature, you can actually design a section on a page that displays product items without having to the WooCommerce product shortcodes.

Please check out these video tutorials to be familiar with these new features:

Best Regards.
