Advanced Custom Fields PRO update

Hi Support

I have a problem with updating the Advanced Custom Fields PRO plugin to version 6.3.10.2. and I can’t reactivate the plugin anymore.

Hey Daniele,

Please try deleting the ACF plugin then install again via Pro > Validation.

Thanks.

Hi @christian

Thank You for your support.

Are we sure that all customizations are maintained?

Hi Daniele,

There will not any problem with the existing data, still I would suggest you take a backup before you delete it. So if anything goes wrong, you can restore it.

Thanks

It seems that there are problems with this in some installations. Not only the name has been changed but also the file path of the plugin itself!

before 6.3.10.2
../advanced-custom-fields-pro/acf.php

after 6.3.10.2
../advanced-custom-fields/acf.php

In my case, this deactivated the plugin! Which can be fatal if the missing functions are not intercepted with function_exists() or is_plugin_active() !
Fortunately, I have this with my functions, other plugin manufacturers unfortunately do not, such as “ACF QuickEdit Fields”. This then caused a fatal error on my site.

Many thanks to the WPEngine VS WordPress war!

I had this happen on 29 sites!

it appears to be related to the ACF > SCF plugin situation due to Wordpress taking over and renaming the ACF plugin. Doing the following fixed it for me

go to Plugins, notice ACF is disabled (this is actually the SCF plugin, not ACF and definitely not ACF Pro)
going to plugins triggers the Pro validation menu into seeing ACF Pro is not installed. Install ACF Pro, Activate

This solves the problem.

I really wish Wordpress would stop this pointless politics at the expense of Wordpress Websites

that topic helps:

charlie said they updated to ACF Lite instead of ACF Pro…

Does this mean that we can no longer access the ACF Pro functions?

That would be a disaster! I have used gallery and repeat fields countless times on pages!

So much for the fact that nothing will change!!! I must confess I am “ slightly” disappointed now!

We updated to ACF Lite on accident. The package for ACF Pro correct now. Sorry for the issue and confusion. Users created prior to April 1st 2024 will continue to receive ACF Pro updates.
