Yoast SEO shows wrong word count on pages

My page shows a wrong text length count in Yoast SEO. I have about 900 words on the page yet Yoast SEO says I have only 160 words. How can this be fixed? Meanwhile my posts show the correct word count (build with the layout builder).

The issue wasn’t fixed with clearing cornerstone cache (and I don’t have a cache plugin atm). And no fix when I momentarily disabled the “under construction” of the website (currently just building it).

Hello Minna,

Thanks for writing in! The given credentials do not work for us. The password seems incorrect. Please be advised that there is an ongoing issue between the theme and the Yoast SEO plugin which cannot detect the number of words on the page. Our developers are already looking into the issue. We do not have an ETA yet on when they can release a fix for the issue.

Please bear with us. Thank you.

Oh weird, one symbol didn’t show up on the password in the secure end after saving. I changed the password so now it works.

I created another page and just added text there and Yoast SEO showed those correctly. I made a copy of the page with the issue and couldn’t figure out why the word count isn’t working on that page, I removed sections etc but it didn’t help. Maybe you could still check it out for me if you could find a way to fix it?

Hello @MinnaKulmala,

Can you please provide us the URL of the pages that worked in your test so that we can compare it with the one that does not work? You provide the URLs in the secure note.

Thank you.

I added the url of the test site in the secure note.

Hi Minna,

It seems that a similar issue has been resolved by installing the latest version of Theme. I would suggest you go through the following thread on this.

Thanks

I have latest version and my Posts seems to work. If I use Cornerstone to create a page then Yoast sees nothing.

Page has 1000 words or so, but reads none:
“The text contains 0 words. This is far below the recommended minimum of 300 words. [Add more content]”

Any other suggestions to help fix?

Unfortunately updating to the latest theme didn’t fix the issue. Can you check my page please if you find something to fix?

Currently I’ve determined there’s an issue when using the classic editor, yoast, and Cornerstone. Disabling the classic editor and going to the WordPress edit page should fix the issue for now. I’m working on a fix for this now and should be ready in a release or two. Let me know if you experience this when using Gutenburg as well.
