X theme renew, adding header file in child-theme breaks the header

Hi

when I add the header files from X parent theme in my x-child theme in framework/views/header/
my mathead and base disappear

I thought adding files in x child theme was the way to change the layout of the site?

Thank you reaching out to us. Please make sure both the X theme and child theme are updated. You can find the latest version numbers here: (http://theme.co/changelog/) Then you can compare them to what’s installed on your site.

If you find anything to be out of date, you can review our update guide.

Also make sure, you have the same folder structure in your child theme as in the parent theme from where you have copied the files otherwise your theme could break. Please see https://theme.co/docs/best-practices

If you’re still having issues then please let us know which files exactly (with path) you’re trying to add in the child theme for customization so we can guide you accordingly.
