You can see that I’m using video in my X Pro headers, and I’m just wondering, what is the workflow that hits the kind of quality of your X theme demos? (i.e., the surfer girl in what looks like true 1080p!)

  • Is it best to host my videos on my own server? Or on Youtube?
  • What is the best compression method to deliver quick-loading videos that are not poor in resolution quality?

So, I get it from the article to use YouTube. How does that look when, for example, using a video in your Header (X Pro).

Hey Marty,

I see that you’re using the video as a background and there is no option to use Youtube or anything that is not a direct to video URL. Just to be clear, a direct to video URL is like https://example.com/video.mp4. Notice in the end that it has the video file extension.

Also, our demo video is just a stock video and we don’t have information of its exact production. What we can provide though is general advice and that is you use or capture a video in Full HD resolution video as that is the most popular video resolution. With regards to video quality, regretfully, we can’t comment on that as we are not video experts.

With regard to video compression, many use the Handbrake software. Please just note though that we do not provide support for 3rd party software so in case you have questions, please refer to the software’s documentation or contact the software support.

If you still wish to use Youtube, you need to use the Slider Revolution as it can display a Youtube video as a background.
