Whatever happened to Cornerstone settings 'Text only' preset for user levels?

Hi @charlie,

Previously on v5* pro we had the option to set Editor roles to text only edits and be able to set what a client could change within pro. ie no design changes but content changes are possible

Has this been removed? I want to give the client the ability to change the wording on text elements, headline elements and change images on the image element… V6.1 seems to have removed this option? and all I foresee from this is many many hours of fixing things that clients can now break!

Please tell me there is a solution

This is gone in v6 and also you cannot set what each element allows, only what elements are allowed

Which leaves all of pro open to the client.

Also, if I enable the Editor role to be able to edit pages, the cornerstone logo does not appear in the top bar so the only way for the editor to edit with cornerstone is from the wp-admin/pages/ ‘page’/ edit with cornerstone option

In the current code base that’s unfortunately all gone. I’d like more permissions back as well. And I’ll add that to our list.

I’ll note the editor role issue you have. It’s probably expecting a different permission or something.

Thanks for bringing these up have a nice day!

I am really not happy about this code being removed, not much I can do about it now, but it has made my job harder.

My options are revert a bunch of sites back to v5 or spend time training multiple clients not to screw up their own websites. moving back to v5 would make Max unworkable as well if that adds to the incentive

I would welcome the return of the granular controls as soon as is possible

also I would really welcome the return of the cornerstone icon for roles that have permission to edit pages

It will be brought back within 6.1.2 or 6.1.3. With components and parameters too we hope to have a system that is easier to hand off to clients. Frankly there’s a lot of things I think V5 did better and we plan on bringing some of that back (things like full screen theme options, and the preset section). I understand the frustration this causes and will prioritize it.

There will be a “Launch” button in 6.1.1 that will address the Cornerstone top toolbar not showing up for permissions with some kind of edit permission.

The sidebar relies on the user having the manage_optionscapability on a given role. It’s been like that for a while so I didn’t change it, but possibly the sidebar needs to use a different capability.

Thank you @charlie,

This has been the best response I could have hoped for, and look forward to the upcoming point releases
