Using WPML and Pro Layouts for Blog Archive

Hi there,

I’m running into an issue - I am using Pro’s Layouts for designing the blog on my website, and I have set up a French version of the Layout but it doesn’t seem to apply it just is applying the English version I have. When I set the conditions - I can’t specify the specific French page by ID is there another way to do this?

Hi Shelley,

Thanks for reaching out.
Regretfully, there is no option to assign the Layout using the page id, I would suggest you assign it by selecting the exact blog page for the specific language. If you are not able to find the way, please provide login credentials for your site in a secure note to examine it further, including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.

Thanks

Thanks @tristup - I have added the secure note - I’m not sure where to select the exact blog for the specific language (I’ve tried looking in WPML’s settings). Appreciate your assistance!

Hey Shelley,

I’m not sure what is the cause why your French page doesn’t exist in the Layout Builder anymore but the fastest solution for this is to save your English blog layout as a template and create a new Layout or load the template up in the Test Blog layout I’ve created since it’s working. You can just rename the Layout for management purposes.

Hope that helps.

Hi @christian - so the other staff member mentioned setting the blog for the French version:

How would I do this so it would work with the Pro Layout? Or is this not possible?

Hello Shelley,

You can actually translate the Blog Archive layout or your custom header. Edit your layout (or header) and in the lower right corner, find the translation flags.

You can follow the translation guide from this article:

Hope this helps.

I have already have tried that. The version I had set up before I first sent the secure note - it was actually set up on both ends this way but it just did not show up in live. But I guess one of the staff members in trying to troubleshoot wrote over it and I’m now trying to re-set it up again, removing what was done. I see this now - only on the French side.

WordPress recognizes this page as the French version of the blog page in the backend but it seems like Pro doesn’t.

Hi Shelly,

Sorry for the confusion due to my last comment, I thought you are having a different blog page that needs to be set with the same Layout and that is what I suggested.

Now, I have checked the blog page and the layout in both the language and found that are working fine. Please check the links in the secure note and let us know if you still have the same issue.

Thanks

I can confirm that is now working for the French blog - but Pro isn’t able to Preview the French blog while making edits (it will still show that “No Suitable Preview” note) while not ideal, for my purposes right now I can access and make changes in the Outline pane if needed - thanks!
