Trying to use Layout Builder for Portfolio Page

My goal is to create a page for each dog. The bottom of this page displays all the featured images for the portfolio items in that dog’s portfolio category.

Years ago, I think this was accomplished with a portfolio shortcode. Now, I think I need to use Layout Builder?

I’ve created a “archive” layout using Layout Builder that looks like I want it to look for this first dog. It’s called “Dog Page Template”. But, I don’t know how to assign the actual page to use this, and how to tell it to only display this dog’s photos.

Do I need a separate layout in Layout Builder for each dog? Or is there a way I can assign these correctly, so that I can use this template but assign each page to a different Portfolio category? I’m sorry, but I’m very confused on how this works together!

You don’t need to create multiple layouts you can assign the archive layout to multiple categories. Please have a look at the given screenshot below.

I have updated the assignment as you suggested. But how do I get Ki-enne’s page to display this content?

And (theoretically) additional pages for Fido that shows only Fido’s photos, and Rover’s page that shows only Rover’s photos?

I’m missing the step on how to get each dog’s page created from this layout I’ve built. I don’t see any available templates or cloning options, and really don’t understand what to do on the individual pages. (Since assigning the “Portfolio Item Portfolio Category is Ki-enne” condition as you suggested didn’t actually do anything to the Ki-enne page itself.)

I see that this page is outputting automatically to https://ena.b05.myftpupload.com/portfolio-item-category/ki-enne/. But what I really need is for the dynamic “photo” section to be able to be placed on a regular page like https://ena.b05.myftpupload.com/ki-enne/ and displaying the featured images from portfolio items in a specific category.

This used to be so easy with an old portfolio shortcode! Maybe that’s still possible, and I’ve taken the wrong approach? Maybe I just need to add a looper/provider situation to a regular page?

I’m also looking at the “Posts” elements, but can’t seem to change those to display a post type of “Portfolio” and a particular portfolio category…

As you can see, I’ve been around awhile, and just don’t know where to begin to get what I want! I’m digging around, trying to find the right option, but need your help!

To be clear, my only goal is to display the featured images of Kienne’s portfolio items on Kienne’s page.

In case you want to display posts of a specific category of the portfolio on the specific page through the Post element, I would suggest you need to change the Looper Provider to Query Builder. Now you need to set the “Posts” as “Portfolio item”, now select the category from the Taxonomies.
