Toplist elements crashing website

Hi,

We have made a toplist for our site that has quite a few elements within each component. We have noticed that it has caused the site to be extremely slow and using up a lot of resources.

The setup is a component page that contains 8-10 brands in a toplist and this component is exported to multiple pages. We used a component so we could edit it in 1 place on a component page.

If possible, would you be able to go into our site and take a look at the component page and see if there’s anything that is noticeably wrong with it or something we might be able to improve?

Many thanks

Hey @Sandberg,

Thanks for posting in! How the component fetched data may have slowed it down and consumed resources on the site. We would be happy to double-check your site if we can log in. You can create a secure note in your next reply with the following info:
– Link to your site
– WP login URL
– WP username
– WP password
– WP Administrator Role
– Confirmation that we can access and make changes to your site

Best Regards.

Hi @ruenel

Yes I can do that. Can you please provide me with your email address and then I can set up a user for you.

Also, for some reason under your reply there is no option for a secure note. It is only visible under my initial post. So do I need to press that button under my post when I send you the login info? As there is no way to do that under your reply.

Thanks

Hey Pontus,

Please create an account for us. Any email would do. What’s important is the username and password. You can delete the account once we’re done investigating.

About the secure note, find the key icon below your post.

Hi @christian and @ruenel this has been done now I have added a secure note with the details to my post.

Thanks

Hey Pontus,

This is a server loading issue. Your server is also struggling with loading images. They’re very slow to load. You need to check this with your web host.

Hi @christian okay, it’s the same hosting we use with other sites and no problem there, so not sure what is going on with this site in particular.

Would it be possible for you or someone at ThemeCo support to login to our site using the credentials in the secure note on this post and look specifically at the component pages and the toplists to see if there is anything wrong with them or obvious to you as to why there might be an issue that affects the speed of the site? As before we pinpointed the lag down to those toplists specifically.

Thanks

Hi @christian or @ruenel can you please take a look at the above? Thanks

Hey Pontus,

Apologies for the confusion. I have logged in to your site previously but was looking at the wrong area.

What you’re encountering with the Toplist component is simply the shear number of elements. Your browser and/or your computer could not handle it. Nothing is crashing on my end. I just noticed there’s slow loading but nothing crashed.

Please try loading your site on a computer with a RAM or memory of 16gb or higher and a browser with no browser extensions.

Thanks.

Hi @christian,

Thanks for taking a look. Do you have any suggestions for how we can streamline the toplists to make them not have so many elements or make it lighter?

Because on our end, we are a bit confused as we haven’t put that many elements in them, just some cells, an accordion, some buttons etc.

Thanks

I’d do it like this:

Note that use can use Div as a container rather than a Section element which forces you to use Rows or Grids. Hold the CTRL key on your keyboard to activate adding an element rather than a section.
