This theme failed to load properly and was paused within the admin backend

I tried to load the theme zip file and that failed. So, I deleted the files and FTPd them to my server, but it still did not load.
What am I missing?

Thanks,
Roger

Hi Roger,

Thanks for reaching out.
It will be very difficult to recognize the issue without investigating through the admin dashboard. Can you please provide login credentials of your broken site in a secure note to examine it further, including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password
– FTP/CPanel credentials to access the files

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.

Thanks

Hi Roger,

I can see the X in the Themes folder through the FTP. But the WordPress user does not have the privilege to activate the theme. I would suggest you assign the Admin privileges to the existing user for further investigation.

Thanks

I have you as an admin in Wordpress. The X theme is the active theme already, so not sure what you mean.
As for FTP, you should have the same privs as me.

Oh, and what about the Cornerstone update issue? I think that may be the whole problem?

Hi Roger,

Thanks, but the WP credentials provided above still has no admin privs.

But I check the frontend of your site, I see X and Cornerstone is not in compatible version and both are outdated but you have latest version of WordPress, so there are incompatibilities issue here.

Please follow this guide.

  • Switch to any default WordPress theme first.
  • Delete X and Cornerstone
  • Download the latest version of X (9.0.8) (follow this guide), make sure you download the Installable Wordpress file only, that should be good to upload on the admin dashboard.
  • Install the x.zip file that you just download via admin dashboard (Appearance > Themes > Add New > Upload Theme).
  • Activate the newly installed X
  • A prompt to install Cornerstone on the top of the dashboard will show, follow that prompt to install the latest Cornerstone (6.0.8).
  • Clear all your caching features (plugin, server-side, CDN, and browser’s cache) after updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

Hope it helps,
Cheers!

Thank you.
That was what I needed.
RW

You are most welcome Roger
