ThemeX completely broken after upgrade to Wordpress 5.4.1

Hi, I had this theme bought end of last year and it worked fine. Was working locally (on a local station).
Then after upgrade it completely broke: showing empty pages when trying to edit them with Cornerstone.
The pages were still there. Moved the site from local to host provider (we’re currently under construction) but the theme still doesn’t want to work. Upgraded to latest version of the theme. Nothing…

In web console when starting anything with cornerstore it shows empty html body. I can’t change the options. nothing.
I removed the theme and reinstalled. Still the same issue. All blank pages. Nothing works.

Please advise where to look at to find the root cause and solve the issues.
Thx

Hey Dirk,

Are you sure that the issue happened after the update or only happened after you moved the site? I asked because this issue is usually caused by migration. We need to know first what exactly caused the issue.

As a solution, try doing a Search and Replace of your local domain to the live domain. You can read more about that in our Migration Guide here: https://theme.co/docs/how-to-migrate-your-site

If that doesn’t help, please migrate your site correctly still using the Migration Guide.

Thanks.

yes, it was also broken on the local site: when starting cornerstone the body is empty.
However I didn’t migrate like described in your migration guide: I used following approach: https://www.hostinger.com/tutorials/how-to-migrate-wordpress

I used method 1. The settings page of X and the Validation page opens, but that’s it. And every page is returned as so nothing. I actually first upgraded the X theme and then did the migration to the host provider. It’s as well local as on the host.
But reinstalling doesn’t do anything. It seems like it doesn’t recognize the license or something alike.
I don’t need to migrate actually. Just get it activated. Because there’s no page yet, only an under construction.

Hi Dirk,

To get it activated, here’s your guide.
You can check your licenses from this account page.
Check this article for some validation issues.

Do let us know how this goes.

No luck. Actually the validation page seems fine. And the settings page opens also fine for the X-theme. Just none of the other pages related to the theme including Cornerstone open. They remain blank. I’ve checked everything in the guides and it should be ok. So the validation states it’s ok but cornerstone won’t launch. Wordpress standard builder opens if I want to create a page.

Maybe it’s better to try to reinstall the theme. What would be the proper procedure to do that? Do I first revoke the validated license and then try to reinstall? Do I reinstall wordpress? Please let me know.

Hey @brysd,

The hostinger article you followed is for simple WordPress sites only. You will need to follow our Migration Guide which includes a whole database Search and Replace of your domain.

Did you do the Search and Replace procedure as I’ve suggested previously?

Reinstalling WordPress and our theme won’t solve the issue because this is database related. This is also not related to the license.

The only solution to this would be to do a remigration from a working copy of your site and remember to do the Search and Replace procedure.

Thanks.

Hi, thx for the feedback. However, since the source site was also already broken, your guide doesn’t make much sense as a solution for this particular situation. I’ve fixed it in the meantime by recreating the database, reinstalling wordpress and reinstalling the X theme and the X-child theme through my account. I’ll definitely first take a backup now and will keep your guide for future reference. Thx!

Hi Dirk,

Yes, it is absolutely a good practice to always keep a full backup of the site before doing any updates.

Glad to hear you were able to get it sorted.

Cheers!
