The Grid Error - Facebook API

Hi,

I’m getting errors trying to display my public Facebook page.

“Sorry, an error occurs from Facebook API: (#15) This method cannot be called with a client token or an app secret embedded in the client code”.

I have searched this forum and online but can’t find a solution. I do believe I correctly entered the Facebook App ID and Facebook App Secret (as I did copy and paste it in) in the Global Settings of the plugin.

Any solutions?

Thanks for writing in! Could you please update to the latest versions?
Our latest versions are:

  • Pro theme 3.2.3
  • TheGrid 2.7.6
  • WP 5.3.2 or higher
  • WP 7.2 or higher

This latest release contains fixes for several issues so be sure to check out the changelog:

After doing the updates, always remember to clear all caches (if you are using WP Rocket, WP SuperCache or W3 Total Cache) when updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

If nothing is helping, provide us access to your site so that we can check your settings. Please create a secure note with the following info:
– Link to your site
– WordPress Admin username / password

Hi @GeniusMBM

It might be the issue of your Facebook App settings. Please check these settings in your Facebook App.

  • Change your app secret ASAP, you shouldn’t include private info in these questions

  • Then, check the advanced settings of your app and make app type is set to ‘Web’, not to ‘native/desktop’ - if it’s set to native/desktop the app secret isn’t trusted and calls which need an app access token will fail.
