Template Assignment for WC Archive. Custom Product Taxonomy

Beta 4

So as the title suggests assigning a template like below for my main Shop layout. I noticed it wasn’t assigning the correct template when navigating to the custom taxonomy page e.g(…/my-custom-taxonomy/). simply reverts to default Pro WooCommerce template.

Is this a beta issue or am I missing something?

Thanks

Hey @samc how’s it going? Thanks for testing the beta. We recently made some changes that’ll have layouts working like the last version. Meaning it’ll use priority lower and THEN arrange by alphabetical order. Your beta doesn’t arrange by alphabetical order right now. To make sure your issue will be fixed. Set the priority on the layout that is not working to something lower. Let me know if that doesn’t work we might need WP access to assist after that.

@charlie Going great thanks really enjoying the work you guys have done so far!

one last thing the template assignment did work for an archive with a lower priority on this type.
…/shop/?my-custom-taxonomy=my-term
but not for this way. (falls back to default - by default I mean the default Pro woocommerce product list)
…/my-custom-taxonomy/my-term/

edit

While we’re here I noticed Assigning Single page layouts to the my-account/cart/checkout page isn’t working for me currently. I don’t know if anyone else can confirm this.

Thanks

Any update on these two issues.

Thanks

Hey Sam.

For #1 could you send me a picture of your assignments or send me a secure note for a login? Do you have the WooCommerce activated in the Pro add-ons manager?

For #2 could you send a picture of your assignments? Is this a regular single or a woocommerce single? You might need to use WooCommerce Single.

Yes so I have a few I can send a couple of pics and see.
For #2 the accounts pages looks like this on a single page layout and this worked in the past.

It is a regular Woocommerce website activated

let me know if you need a dev site spinning up.

Yeah let’s get a dev spinned up. I can only guess at this point. Thanks.

@charlie

OK no problem

Thanks. Let me know if there is anything I can try out in the meantime.

Hi @charlie I uploaded RC1 to that site. lots of great fixes but I’m still seeing those template assigning issues.
For shop taxonomies. Shop categories still work which is good.
Account pages still aren’t able to be assigned for me.

And I can’t figure out the looper in the header not working when on the shop pages.

All other pages it displays the correct locations.

Anyway I’ve left it running if you have chance to take a quick look.

Thanks

Do you have a DB dump I can use? These brands didn’t really transfer properly in the WP export. For the Account page I think you need to use WC Single. Look for “Account Page WC”, I set it up for /my-account/and copied your elements, in the conditions list you can add the other pages you want it to show up on.
To be honest I might be sending you to normal support, it looks like you need help setting up as opposed to beta bugs. They’ll have seen more setups too. I can see easily see if something is wrong with the DB dump though, so send it my way and I’ll take a deeper look.

@charlie As I’ve been pushing to get this one live I’ve figured out work arounds for everything. You probably have enough on your plate.

Thanks for the tip on WC Single :+1:. maybe the conditions for cart / checkout … shouldn’t be available for Wordpress Single to avoid future confusion.

I fixed my header nav issue with a custom provider function.

For custom taxonomies on shop I have ditched them as I was copying their old site someone had done. So have switched back to the WC categories. Much better and more future proof.

Thanks

Sounds good thanks. That’s a good idea on the conditions for cart / checkout, we’ll have to see what’s up with that.
