Submenu in sidebar on “News” page is missing

Dear Themeco Support Team,

the little submenu at the top of our our left-hand sidebar on our “News” page is missing in English (https://www.morga.ch/en/aktuell/) and in French (hhttps://www.morga.ch/fr/aktuell/). Instead we can see the standard blog sidebar.

The submenu shows two direct links to our “products” and “activities” news categories.

In German the submenu is showing correctly: https://www.morga.ch/aktuell/.

How can we switch on the correct version of the sidebar on our English and French “News” page as well?

Kind Regards,
lypa

Hello @lypa,

This is a similar case from this thread:

Hi RueNel,

Thank you for helping. I have tried to sort that out like with our other sidebars (see here:
https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/sidebar-on-imprint-page-is-missing/69692/4?u=lypa). But in this case, it does not work. If I go to “Appearance -> Widgets” and then switch to “All languages/Global” at the top like this:

I can not find the “Aktuell” menu anywhere to assign it to all languages (menu is called “News” in English and “Actuel” in French).

Currently the menu appears in the German version only:
https://www.morga.ch/aktuell/.

But if I switch to French or English it is missing:

Here are some more screenshots, explaining the issue:

Would you mind taking a look at this and help us assign this menu to all languages?

Thanks!
lypa

Hey lypa,

It looks like it’s not possible to create a menu for All Languages it’s not available in Appearance > Menus. I might be wrong so it’s best that you contact WPML for this.

Alternatively, you can assign a menu per language.

Hope that helps.

Hi Christian

Many thanks for your help. I tried all various options and everything doesn’t work. For example, I don’t find the text “Alle Beiträge” in the string translation to translate it.

And when I create a widget for each language, like French and German, they only appear in German, all two of them. But not in French. Whenever I want to assign the widgets to one language, they disappear in another.

Please note: Also, when I added the French submenu to the Widget in order to test this bug fix, our WPML language switch in the main navigation disappeared and I had to manually add it again (strange).

Could you look at it again, please? Thank you very much.

Best regards
lypa

Hey lypa,

I tested my suggestion before I responded. I tested it again and the menu works in different languages.

This is no longer a theme issue. If you have more problems with WPML, please copy your site to a staging server and switch to the default WordPress theme and test WPML’s functionality. If you find issues, please report it to WPML developers.

Thanks.

Hello Christian

Thank you for you reply and testing the issue. The French test menu appeared in German as well on our side and I removed them again for now. I try and contact WPML. Thank you.

Kind Regards,
lypa
