Struggling To Create 3 Panel Slider Revolution Post Slider

Hi

I am struggling to get a Slider Revolution post slider to appear as I would like and I wondered if there

I have created the post slider as per the docs at Theme Punch and set it to display 3 slides, yet when I preview it on a page, there is only a single image, which

This is a pretty simple look I am trying to replicate, but have not yet found any documentation to describe how one goes about it.

As you can see, just a simple 3 panel slider that slides all 3 at a time when you navigate

Eventually my posts main page will have a number of these in different category sections, linking to the individual posts

Any help you can give or documentation you can link to would be greatly accepted

cheers

Hello @guybower1,

Thanks for writing in!

To create a 3 column carousel, please make sure that you have set the maximum visible slides to 3. Kindly check out this documentation to fully display 3 column carousel in your site.

Please let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the reply Ruenel

Yes, that was already set to 3 and I see nowhere to set a minimum number. I basically want 3 visible at all times and when the directional arrow is clicked, 3 new ones appear

Yet the slider shows as a single image

Any thoughts on that?

Thanks so much for your time

Secure Note above.

Just so you know, I even tried reducing the size of each of the images in Image Settings. I made it as low as 10% and it simply showed a single tiny image on its own.

The slider is called 3_post_slider

Hey @guybower1,

Your slider actually doesn’t display only 1 slide or 1 image on Full HD screen size. It’s just displaying 1 slide on a smaller screen size because of the Layer Area Size setup.

image

Aside from the column setting, you need to take into account Layer Area Size. Try lowering the width down like 200px and you’ll get the look like your first screenshot.

image

Once you’ve configured the correct Layer Area Size that you need, you then need to configure the Size and Position of each Layer inside the slide so that it fits in the Layer Area Size you’ve configured for each screen size. For more details, please see https://www.themepunch.com/slider-revolution/size-position/

Hope that helps.

Hi Christian

Thanks so much for your reply

I think the issue may be the original size of the images in each post, as the posts were done over the last couple of years and all of the images were designed to be full width. I am just trying to redesign the blog main page and make it a bit more elegant so I want to separate blogs into categories, with each category being a 3 panel slider with spacing between each of the 3 image, like my example above.

So I guess in effect, 1 slide should be actually 3 posts, rather than 1 slide being 1 post, which is what it looks like at the moment. When you scroll, it should scroll 3 at a time (haven’t been able to fins that setting) and on any screen size, the slider simply fits 100% of the site width.

I have managed to get to this point

So I guess it’s progress, though I wouldn’t call it an overly intuitive plugin to use at all. As I indicated, the aim is to have 3 same size images side by side with maybe a 20px gutter between, the way you normally quite easily do things in Essential Grid. For now, I have set the images to only 50% of their width, just so I can at least see 3 side by side. I guess in essence, it should really be a like a News Carousel, but populated with posts.

cheers Christian. Thanks so much for your help and the link

Hey @guybower1,

For the image, I’d recommend setting an appropriate size or preferably the exact size and aspect ratio to match the carousel item container. Otherwise, you need to set the image to cover the container. Using percentage value will stretch your image so they’ll look weird. Cover would be better even though parts of your image will be hidden. It’s hidden by the way because of the aspect ratio mismatch between the image and the carousel. Your image is landscape rectangle while the carousel container is a narrow vertical rectangle.

You might overcome that by creating a specific image size to match the carousel container then use that size in that in the Source Type. You’d then need to find a way to edit each image version to your liking.

Hope that helps.

hi Christian

Just so you know, I am not actually looking to have any single image to cover the container the slider is in. I am aiming at 3; that is the purpose of my post. I want a 3 image slider and moves to the next 3 when you click the navigation arrow. The reason I was playing with sizes of the images in RS was just so I could at least see 3 images at the same time.

A quick question; if the slider type is set to post, it will obviously be pulling in posts which fit a certain category, but is it possibly to change the image for each so it does not use the post image, but rather a different image sized correctly? That way I won’t have to touch the actual posts pages, as I am really just looking to redesign the post main page; the one where all the posts are shown and can be selected, if that makes sense

cheers

Hello @christian,

The Carousel Slider will only display one slide at a time as you scroll or click the next button. If you need to display 3 column item and the next 3 items when you click next button, you might use Essential Grid instead. Please check out this documentation:

If you select the slider type as Post, it will be pulling from the posts and you cannot change the image image sizes. To learn more about the Post Based slider and how you can set the slide background image from the post featured images, please check this out:

Best Regards.

hi Runel

Thanks so much for the reply

My initial question showed a picture of a 3 panel/column slider, so that would have been great information to have right then, though I do thank you for it now.

I had a feeling it might have to be a grid thing rather than a slider.

Thanks so much

Regards

You’re most welcome, @guybower1.
