Site Max Width

Hi,

When I oped my website on a large screen (50" LCD display) I saw that the global container of the header and that of the body content do not align, as they do on a computer screen or smaller. In the Cornerstone Options, the “site width” and “site width max” are set to 82% and 1200px, respectively, which are the default values, so I expect the the global container to be 82% both in the header and body content, regardless of screen size. But it looks like there is a screen size dependency on header, as the global container was less than 82% on a 50" LCD display and misalign with the body content.

When I increased the “site width max” from 1200px to 1600px, however, the global containers of the header and body content align as expected.

So my questions are: (1) what is “site width max”, why does it exist, and why the the header and body content’s global containers do not align at large screens?
(2) What would be the implications of setting the “site width max” to a high pixel value, such as 1600px—I so not want to have the misalignment issue.

Thanks

Hello Gunes,

Thanks for the very details post information. Are you using custom headers? You must also set maximum widths for your Bar elements. Make sure that it matchings with the Theme Options’ Site Max Width settings.

Best Regards.

RueNel,

Sorry, my original entry was quite long and I realized that it is not very easy to understand. I wanted to improve my understanding about what “site width max” is for and I think I did:)

If the “site width max” and “global container width” are set to 1200 px and 82% from theme options, respectively, and my screens resolution is 2000px, the global container’s width will be 1200 px * 0.82 = 984 px, but not 2000 px * 0.82 = 1640 px.

What I did is (which now I realized that it is a design mistake): I used global containers in most places (pages, header etc.) but in a few areas, I turned off the global container and set a margin for (1-0.82)/2 =9%. I realized that this creates a misalignment problem if the device’s screen resolution is greater than the "site width max " on theme option.

Thanks for your patience and support.

Thanks
