Site Indexing Issues

Hello X Theme

I am having an issue with my site indexing in Google.

When I publish new articles/posts, I am finding that my homepage is indexing and ranking in Google for the the articles selected keywords.

I did turn my X Theme Breadcrumbs off recently (as I was getting breadcrumb markup issues in Google Search Console). I am using Yoast and have breadcrumbs enabled there.

Not sure if the above is leading to the issue, but thought it was worth a mention,

Any other ideas?

Thanks
Jeremy

Hey Jeremy,

Regretfully, we cannot comment on your website’s position on Google’s search results page as there are a lot of factors you need to take into account in the SEO area. Our theme is just a small part of it and it does the job of ensuring that the code of your site is well written and optimized.

Regarding the breadcrumbs, if you used Yoast SEO’s breadcrumbs and disable our theme’s, you have to integrate Yoast SEO breadcrumbs to our theme. Simply enabling it won’t place the breadcrumbs in the theme. You have to consult with or hire a personal WordPress developer in case you don’t know to code though as we do not provide custom development as part of theme support. If you know how to code, check out our customization article here https://theme.co/docs/best-practices. If you encounter issues with custom code, please forward them to your developer.

Regarding the effects of breadcrumbs on SEO, we cannot answer that as we are not SEO professionals and we do not have control over Google. Please contact Yoast SEO support regarding this matter maybe they’ll have information on this.

Hope that helps and thank you for understanding.

Hello @christian,
Thank you for your response and understand regarding your advice on SEO.

Regarding breadcrumbs; I find that when I disable breadcrumbs via Customize > Header > Miscellaneous > (check) Breadcrumbs , nothing changes visibly on the site:

I.e. I still see the navigation chain at the top of the article "blog author, date, category etc.

However, when I enable X theme breadcrumbs I get this message in Google Search Console (see attached images)

:

What is causing this? Can it be resolved, or should I disable X theme breadcrumbs altogether?

When X theme breadcrumbs are disabled my site does not have these issues in Google Search Console.

Thank you for your help,
J

Hey J,

If you disable X Breadcrumbs, naturally, you won’t see it. If you still see the X Breadcrumbs after disabling it, it is a result of caching. You should DisableCaching. Please also clear your browser’s cache.

If you have modified the Breadcrumbs function, that could be a result of it. To prove that, please first do Child Theme Test. If the issue persists even using the parent theme, please give us the following information in a Secure Note.

  • Page URL having the issue
  • WordPress Login URL
  • Admin Username and Password

You can find the Secure Note button at the bottom of your posts.

I’ve tested our themes’ breadcrumbs and I don’t get an issue on my end.

Using X Breadcrumbs is a user preference so it would be up to you if you’re going to use it.

Thanks.

Hello @christian,

I have done the Child Theme Test and this issue does not resolve.
I am still getting the breadcrumb issue for ItemListElement where “either the name or item.name should be specified”.

Unfortunately I am not comfortable of giving my admin login details.
Could you please investigate another way?

Thanks
Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,

It will be very difficult to recognize the issue without investigating through the admin dashboard. If you are not comfortable sharing the admin credential, please copy your live site to a staging server with the exact setup you have in your live server? So we could troubleshoot freely without breaking your live site and will try to recognize the problem behind this.
And then please provide login credentials for your staging site in a secure note to examine it further, including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.

Thanks
