Sidebar on blog index, articles only (Renew stack in Pro)

I’m using the Renew stack on the Pro theme on my site, and so far from reading the documentation, I’m not seeing the options I need in order to configure the behavior I want.

Under theme options, and layout and design - I see the expected options of full-width, content left/sidebar right, and content right/sidebar left. What I want to configure is that PAGES are full-width, while the BLOG (including index, category, article and search result pages) all have a side-nav which I have built.

My challenge is that when I go to the BLOG configuration options on my theme options in Pro (again - the RENEW stack), my LAYOUT dropdown menu ONLY lists “use global content layout” or “fullwidth.” Here, I do not have the option to select content-left/sidebar-right, which is what I want to do.

I’ve also run through the SIDEBAR and WIDGETS settings under the traditional WP Appearance menu - and configured everything how I would expect it to work based on the documentation.

When I choose the content-left/sidebar-right layout option on the main theme layout option in Pro, unfortunately this applies to ALL pages on my site, whether I have specified a sidebar/widget or not.

Please advise.

Hello Graham,

Thanks for writing in!

What I want to configure is that PAGES are full-width, while the BLOG (including index, category, article and search result pages) all have a side-nav which I have built.

To get this done, please do the following:
1.) Go to Pro > Theme Options > Layout and Design > Content Layout and set it to “Content Left, Sidebar Right”.
2.) And then in Pro > Theme Options > Blog > Layout and Pro > Theme Options > Blog > Archives > Layout set it to “Use Global Content Layout”.
3.) Please edit each of your pages and change the page template to Layout - Fullwidth or Blank - No Container | Header, Footer. For more details about the different page templates in the theme, please check this out:

We would love to know if this has worked for you. Thank you.

Thanks - yes! What I didn’t expect was that I would need to find the page settings in the classic WP page editor view, rather than in Pro. I can’t seem to adjust/edit the template I might have chosen when I originally built these pages in Pro, so the WP editing interface does allow it. I think this is resolved now.

Hey Graham,

You can also access the page settings while you are editing in Pro Editor. Click the gear icon on the lower left panel and it will display a modal popup.

Hope this helps.
