Show a gallery in the featured image spot in portfolios

hello, instead of a slider can I literally have a gallery in the featured image area?

part two: can I add text to the sidebar?

Please select “Gallery” as your Media Type.

If you want to have a sidebar, since you are using the Pro theme, it is best that you create your own custom portfolio item layout. Please check this out:

Does that not create a slider? and not show a gallery?

Yes, it would create a slider of the image which you attached to the portfolio items. Please have a look at this to learn more about how it would display on the single page and portfolio list.
