Search not finding V2 element contents

I seem to be having the same issue as referenced is this post and was wondering if it had been addressed and if additional steps were required.

Any content contained in V2 elements is not fount by the search function. I have tried using Relevanssi to index the pages with no success. I have created a test page containing both a V2 and a Classic Text element. A search will find items in the Classic, but not the V2.

Test search page

Thank you

Hi @501creative,

Yes, this is a known issue almost a year ago. But it was already fixed.
We have tested it on our install and it is working.

Can try testing for a plugin conflict frist? You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

If this is not caused by any plugin, can you then try switching from child theme to PRO? Let’s see if this is not caused by any customization. If the issue still persists, please try reinstalling PRO theme. Check again after that.

Please note to always save a backup of your site. Thank you.

Hi @Lely,

We also have the issue. The text in V2 element is not indexed by Relevanssi. I remember it used to work, but today the users reported that it is not working.

Hello @joannhu,

Thanks for updating this thread. Can you please confirmed that you have update to the latest versions?
Our latest versions are:

  • X theme 7.1.2
  • Cornerstone 4.1.2

This latest release contains fixes for several issues so be sure to check out the changelog (http://theme.co/changelog/).

After doing the updates, always remember to clear all caches (if you are using WP Rocket, WP SuperCache or W3 Total Cache) when updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

If the updates are not helping, provide us access to your site so that we can check your settings. Please create a secure note with the following info:
– Link to your site
– WordPress Admin username / password

To know how to create a secure note, please check this out: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/how-to-get-support/288

Please let us know how it goes.

I had to disable Relevanssi (4.5.0) in order to get the V2 elements to show up in the search. Currently running Pro 3.1.2 as the parent theme.

Relevanssi off - finds Classic and V2
Relevanssi on - finds Classic only

I like to use Relevanssi, since it creates the excerpts for the search term.

I tried a few other search plugins with mixed results. If I add an excerpt to the page manually then it shows up in the results page under the title. The behavior that Revelassi produced by creating an excerpt centered on the search term is what I would like to achieve.

The plugins that could display an “on the fly” excerpt centered around the search term could not locate the V2 elements. The plugins that could find the element couldn’t display an excerpt. I’m wondering if the plugins that can produce the excerpt are not using the default Wordpress search function. I see that when I edit the page outside of Pro there is not content visible in the first column containing the V2 element while the Classic element displays the content.

Hey @501creative,

The fix was for V2 elements to show up in WordPress Excerpt. It looks like Relevanssi has its own excerpt system and it replaces the WordPress Excerpt. With that said, we need to take into account Relevanssi Excerpt also. It would be up to our developers if they are going to support Relevanssi though and if they’ll support Relevanssi, this might take time for research and development. What I’m going to do now is post this as feature request as we can’t provide any workaround for this other than using a search engine or service outside of WordPress like Google’s Custom Search. Algolia is another example.

Hope that helps.

Thank you for the response. That confirms what I suspected. For now we’re just going to enable the page excerpts and create some meaningful content to fill out the search results page.

Hi @501creative,

Yes, please use that as a workaround at the moment. The result of the discussion might take a while and we cannot promise and ETA. Thank you for understanding.
