having implemented a child theme, to work with the Cookie Plugin, Slider revolution refuses to connect in the “Below Masthead” location, but happily connects with the specified Slider when in the body of the page http://fairbankingresearch.com
Hi There,
Upon checking your website, I could see that the slider is below masthead now.
Would you mind providing us with login credentials(by clicking on the Secure Note button at the bottom) so we can take a closer look? To do this, you can make a post with the following info:
- Link login to your site
- WordPress Admin username / password
Thanks.
Sorry, I think you are mistaken, when you look at the website, you will see 2 Sliders, the one “Below the masthead” is showing a block of red with the following text in it
“Revolution Slider Error: Slider with alias x-slider-rs-23 not found.
Maybe you mean: ‘static fb slider 1’ or ‘media-gallery-two4’ or ‘mediacarouselautoplay’ or ‘media-carousel-back-up’ or ‘classic-carousel12’ or ‘fbliveslideroct15-backup’”
But in the body x-slider-rs-23 is happily being displayed, so it is there to be found.
I will send the login credentials in a moment
Hey @Fairbanking,
It’s a problem with your customization. I enabled the parent X theme and the slider showed up. I enabled the child theme back after.

Backup your site or your child theme and remove modifications one by one to check what is causing the issue.
Thanks.
Sorry, but there are no modifications made to the child theme, it was freshly downloaded.
I was considering adding the Cookie Consent code plugin there, as it doesn’t work with X, which one would of expected.
I would be more than happy to have a GDPR plugin that worked without having to resort to using a child theme…in fact that would be my preferred solution if you can point me at one which works with X to meet this legal requirement.
So sorry the Child Theme excuse, does not wash in this case!
I’m sorry but I am not making an excuse. If your child theme was “freshly” downloaded, could you explain why there are lots of template files in there?

Here’s what a fresh child theme looks like in the WordPress’ theme editor page.

Please switch to the parent theme and you’ll see that the slider will work. Delete your current child theme and download a fresh child theme here and install it.
Also, we’re talking about Slider Revolution here. Please don’t mix the topics and open a separate thread for them to avoid confusion.
Let us know if the issue will persist with the new child theme.
Thank you.
Thank you for showing me that there are all those template files present, I had no idea that they were not meant to be there as part of the X Child theme, I checked my X theme and compared and the looked similar to the untrained eye
I certainly am not running buddypress or Woocomerce on my site, so bemused/confused as to what they are doing there in the listings, I had assumed they were part of the X theme instal, but from what I am hearing, that might be a false assumption.
Frankly, I had not appreciated that the problem I was experiencing with Slider Revolution would have had it’s cause in the X child theme I was using, so as far as I am concerned, your diagnosis of the extraneous template files in the Xchild as being the source of the symptom, has brought us to this point, I was not intentionally mixing topics.
But I would appreciate your observations as to the state of my parent X theme, and the most expedient way of removing any extraneous template files, to ensure good hygiene, if that is appropriate.
Thanks
For some reason the 2nd screen shot did not make it into the above display even though present when I edit it so here it is, thanks for your help and patience.

Well thats does not seem to have worked, but hopefully I have explained the situation well enough?
Hey @Fairbanking,
I see you’re using the Monday slider now.
Since you are not using any modification in a child theme or are using a fresh child theme, your slider displays fine.

You might have copied files and folders from the parent theme in the past that is why you have templates in your previous child theme.
Please clear your browser cache and also view your site in incognito mode to check again.
Thanks.
Thanks, as I have no need of BuddyPress or WooComerce, templates at this time, and in view of the fact that some of those templates were apparently responsible for the deviant behaviour of slider revolution, is it good practice to perform a fresh clean install of X so that no extraneous templates get installed, or is there a better way to reduce the risks?
Thanks
