Remove 'Add Section' for Editors

Hi,

Is it possible to disable ‘Add Section’ for Editors in Cornerstone?
I checked Permissions, but I couldn’t find the appropriate one.

Hi Carina,

You can go to the Permission Manager and switch to the editor setting and disable the section element there:

Hope this helps.

Hi,
I’m afraid I already tried that and it doesn’t work.

In fact I installed Pro theme on a new WordPress multisite, with no other content or plugins and disabled all permissions for editors, except for the ability to edit pages. Even in this case the ‘ADD SECTION’ link still shows.

We need to hide the Add Section because it creates a V2 container and we need a classic section. If hiding the Add Section button is not possible, can we set it up to create a classic section instead of V2?

Hi @carinaa,

May we know why you need the classic section to be the default? Unfortunately, you can not make the Classic Section as the default. However, you can make the Section default to have a Classic ROW and Classic Column instead. See Settings > Preferences > Content Layout Element

Hope it helps,
Cheers!

Hi,

We need classic sections because have classic sections templates which can’t be applied to the V2 sections.
Is there any way to hide the ‘Add Section’ then?

Hello @carinaa,

Regretfully we do not have any settings on the theme that the “Add Section” can be removed or hidden from the Editors and other user roles. We are only limited to the following options in X/Pro > Settings > Permissions:

This is something we can add to our list of feature requests. This way it can be taken into consideration for future development. All of these items are discussed with our team internally and prioritized based on the amount of interest a particular feature might receive.

Thanks!

@ruenel, thanks for the reply.

If I wanted to add some CSS to the Cornerstone Editor and just hide this with CSS, would that be possible?
Is there a hook to add CSS like that?

Hello Carinaa,

Adding a custom CSS to override the Cornerstone styling may be possible with custom development. Please be aware that this is beyond the scope of our support.

Issues that might arise from the use of custom code and further enhancements of the theme and Cornerstone should be directed to a third party developer.

Thank you for your understanding.
