RC2 - Widget Area - Margin/Padding bug?

Hey Team

Margin/padding bug with the Widget Area when using a saved Sidebar Widget?

When trying the Margin and Padding for the Widget Area element, it just changes the margin/padding for the entire area as opposed to the individual sidebar elements (which makes sense).

But still unable to adjust the individual Sidebar widget margins? Should these maybe default to the Theme/Stack margins?

Below is the live site with the same sidebar, but using the default Stack sidebar from the Production Pro version (non Beta) - see the margin differences:

@futronline, thanks for writing in! I need to confirm a few more things before pushing this out officially, but for now I’ve gone ahead and added a couple controls to adjust the spacing between widgets, as well as the spacing below the heading for each widget:

If I come across something that might be a conflict I’m seeing at the moment, I might have to roll this back to just take on the Stack styling as you mentioned, but I think this is more flexible in the long run.

@kory - Thanks mate, those controls should work brilliantly. I do note that the left & right margins on the Widget Area look to be 0px, so on mobile this may pose an issue for those with no Global Container if unable to be adjusted?

Also, on a side note - there’s no way to currently customise the Widgets by the looks. Gathering this is because the design is pulled through still from the Stack option? Any way to be able to tweak Widget elements possibly?

For example, you can see in the above screenshot that the ‘Collections’ list (Bundles, Skincare, Makeup) are underlined, whereas the ‘Shopping Info’ list (Shop, Your MUSQ Bag etc) have an arrow list dot-point and aren’t underlined. These differences are currently pulled automatically through the Stacks, and are unable to be edited without custom code.

Or will we have to wait for the Theme Options upgrade?

Cheers,
Sam

@futronline, awesome! I think they’ll be nice there, too. As for side spacing: correct, there is nothing there. So you would either need to add your own margins / padding with the controls or set it up in some way that you see fit so that it gets the spacing you need responsively.

As for adjusting widgets by look, there is nothing for that now, you are correct. Each Stack has it’s own look for the widgets based on the foundational style. In the Theme Options reboot, we plan on giving a very simple, stripped down set of controls to style widgets uniformly across all situations, because for the most part people tend not to use widgets much anymore, and many of the widgets available could now be replicated with Loopers (i.e. recent posts, related content, et cetera). If you want to update the look for now, it will need to be with custom code.

Cheers!
