RC1: Minor UX thing with the + sign

This is definitely not a big deal, and maybe it is only personal.

I keep reaching for the + sign to add new elements, despite them not being there. It is kind of a natural place to expect elements and I need to get used to not clicking it.

But how 'bout actually adding a “Element” part there, which opens the element pane when clicked, much like how the “How would you like to start” screen opens the Templates tab when “Use template” is clicked?

It might reduce some micro stresses for the new users. And also apparently for some more experienced ones.

I don’t think I follow 100%. Holding down “CTRL (linux, windows)” / “MOD (Mac)” and clicking that + button will now open the element pane. If that’s not what you are referring to, could you send an image. I like your idea with having an “Element” part in the starter section.

If you do the mod key click on a grid or row you will be able to add a custom component or template that has the type needed (cell in grid etc…). I believe you requested that, and a great request too.

Hi @charlie

I’m sorry for not being clear enough. I was referring to the plus sign next to the Cornerstone logo. The one that creates new pages, headers, Footers, etc.

When a user wants to add a new element, he could reach for the most obvious signifire to add something new, and that’s the big + sign.

Oh I gotcha now. We’ll discuss internally. I’m afraid we are running out of space there, but we can discuss options. Whether we make it a full page or figure out another way to stream line adding in elements. Thanks for the feedback!
