RC: Manually entering the preview width is not responding

Hi!

I see that the pixel size preview box in the top-right is active, with the possibility of entering units manually. If I do that, nothing happens.

Also, Full screen preview (CTRL+SHIFT+A) is not hiding it. (Also the ruler is not getting hidden, which it should be).

Also, there is no obvious and quick way to hide the box, making it in the way of the working area which can be a problem if anything is placed at that position.

The same problem is with the ruler: it is not needed all the time, yet it stays there, taking up precious pixels and visually “mixing” with the design.

Also, in the preview mode, we don’t get the responsive toggles anymore, and dragging isn’t working all the way, but only to the limit of the currently chosen breakpoint. I think the Toggles should be visible in the preview mode. At the side is OK, as long as we have the freedom to preview the design as we like. :slight_smile:

Personally, In the Preview mode, I’d like to be able to show/hide the ruler and the pixel box and have visible (blue?) lines on the ruler representing each breakpoint. Then it would be great to be able to drag the preview entire way, with possible slight snapping to breakpoint lines.

Hi @Misho,

I’ve made some adjustments here and fixed the inability to type a value without it getting reset. This is the expected behavior now:

  • When previewing full screen( ctrl+shift+A) it always uses your natural browser dimensions and no UI overlays are present.
  • The Ruler and Preview Sizer UI will show when you have clicked to activate a breakpoint. The Ruler and Preview Sizer UI will also show if you type in a specific pixel value.

I know this might not be ideal with what you’re used to, but the full screen preview feature itself isn’t all that useful anymore now that clicking the breakpoint icons will scale the preview down when the current browser width isn’t large enough.

this is much better!

Though,something is strange. on one install, I have WPML, so the language widget was present at the bottom-right in Cornerstone.

  1. When I first edited the page, the ruler was hiding after dragging the preview window, but there was a pretty big gap between the ruler and the bottom of the preview window. Even when the ruler was gone, the gap stayed.
  2. When I have deactivated all WPML-related plugins, the Ruler stopped going away. Also the preview box is now constantly visible.

This is what the console says:

  1. When I have reactivated the WPML plugins, the problem persisted. Clearing Style cache didn’t helped.

This is the same staging site as in other threads. The same issue is present on the other install.

So in a nutshell, it worked briefly, and then stopped. Strange.

Gotcha! Thank you! I’ve checked everything again with WPML and now the language switcher hides when previewing full screen. It also bumps up slightly so it doesn’t cover the ruler.
