Question: Options, Meta, etc. for pages or posts from classic or gutenberg editor in cornerstone

In the classic editor or in Gutenberg there are additional options or settings that appear after the standard content, depending on the plugins used, such as extended individual fields via ACF. Or even more settings in the sidebar such as categories, keywords and also depending on the plugin some more fields.

Is there anything planned for Cornerstone to make these options and settings all directly in Cornerstone environment, or do you still have to go to the classic editor or Gutenberg?

@Regnalf, as of right now there are no plans to roll those settings into the Cornerstone interface. So much functionality has been built out in Cornerstone over the years that makes many of those features somewhat irrelevant (for instance, all of the “Post Format” options for the different Stacks since now users can simply build out their own Post templates using the Single Template Builder).

Hopefully that helps to provide some context!

Ok, of course I lack the technical background why it is not possible either way.

But I would like to make the suggestion, if it is not possible to do these options and settings in Cornerstone, could you provide a button that takes you directly back to the WordPress editor to continue editing the post or page? Functions like post category and keywords are not irrelevant and are used very often!
I know it’s a the moment in Cornerstone > exit, but as you can edit multiple pages, layout, etc. in cornerstone now, it should be more page, post specific to go back.

Actually it would be quite nice and convenient to have some of that available directly in Cornerstone. It would save you from having to go back and forth or having another browser tab open with the post/page edit screen in wp-admin. I don’t know if it’s technically feasible, but perhaps this stuff could be loaded in a modal or something?

@Regnalf, that is an interesting middle-ground, to at least have a button under “Settings” or something that could take you back to the WP backend. I will think that one over and see what is possible there. As a note on this, the “Exit” link at the bottom of the Cornerstone menu does contextually take you back to the page / post you’re working on directly, but I can see how having something that perhaps kept your builder interface up and opened the post in a new tab for quick editing would be nice.

@JvP, definitely hear you on this. For the moment, we’re trying to keep the scope of this beta very tight to the new interface and features like Parameters and Components. I have noted down your thoughts.

No worries, I’m not expecting you to add major stuff like that in at this point and that you want to keep things focused on the stuff that’s in this release. It’s something to think about at a later time perhaps

That would be nice indeed.

Sounds good! And I’ve got some notes on getting that button in on the Settings tab. I think that would be a very helpful 80/20 kind of win that gets people into the backend meta quickly.
