Pro Theme Site-Wide Header for WordPress Multi-Site Network

I have an existing site and wish to use the same header for all of the other sites within the WordPress multi-site network. This is to ensure continuity of menus and site logo without having to edit multiple sites.

How do I make this happen?

Hi @caldwell,

Unfortunately, there isn’t an option to assign a single global Header across all sites. However, you can export the Header from one site and import it into the others.
Please note that any future changes will still need to be applied individually on each site.

Thanks

Are there ways to do this with functions.php or any other type of code calls?

And if we decide to do the Export / Import, what are the exact steps?

Hello Lane,

You can save the header as a template, export it, and then import the template into your other website using the Template Manager. Please have a look at the template manager documentation to learn more about how to export and import the templates.

Hope it helps
Thanks

I’m not tristup, but I got the reply.

The main point of this header is to supply a common MENU across all subsites. If I export the header as a template and import into subsites, it won’t even pull the main site menu, will it? That is also probably “stored in a database” and not accessible by default.

There has to be a way to do this, preferably one that doesn’t require manual intervention every time a menu is edited on the main site.

Hello Lane,

I sincerely apologize for the error with the name in the above posts. I’ve corrected it.

By default, WordPress Multisite does not include an option to display the main site’s menu across subsites, as this requires custom code. This falls outside the scope of our theme support. For help implementing it, I recommend consulting a developer or subscribing to One, where customization queries are answered. We don’t provide custom development assistance.

Thanks for understanding
