Pro Beta 6 - Preview not updating in Firefox

** I’m going to leave this up and do some further testing. It seems to be working in Firefox just not the Developer Edition. Will update this once I’ve had time to test further.

I’ve opened a thread about this before, for some time now (at least Pro 5.1) I am unable to use Firefox.

If I use Chrome or Edge things work as expected however Firefox developer edition doesn’t work as the preview never updates. With the Firefox normal edition things seem to be working in the beta although this seems to be hit and miss.

This happens across all my sites and is a real pain as my preferred browser for development tools is Firefox.

If I save and then refresh the changes are there but I obviously can’t work like that.

This is the error I see in the console.
Failed render TypeError: Response.text: Body has already been consumed.

@urchindesign, is the main issue you’re having here that some things are not updating in the live preview until you save and hit refresh as you mentioned? If so, it is likely that you are experiencing some of the issues mentioned under my “Known Issues” section in the pinned topic in the beta forum. We are aware of certain actions not updating the live preview at this time and have outlined some of the most common ones to give context, and I recommended in that thread for users to simply save and refresh to get to the editing experience at this time if you run into it.

What would be helpful is if you could provide a list of certain actions you’re performing that don’t seem to be updating as you would expect. If they’re part of the list I gave, then they are known, but being able to add to that if there is anything else would be helpful for us to look into.

Thanks!

No I don’t think it is the known issue you discussed in the release post. This has been happening to me since Pro 5 and I’ve basically stopped working in Firefox because of it.

Basically nothing updates in the preview at all. The step is to open any page in Cornerstone and edit something

Gotcha! I will note this down.

@urchindesign Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Developer edition also gives me some errors. This has to do with WordPress cookies which is not something we handle directly. In the next release you’ll have more readable errors in the console when this happens, but as a result of the SameSite policy and possibly how Developer Edition handles hosts when we send a request to get the preview data the server thinks we are not logged in. Anyway all that to say I was able to workaround in developer edition for a little bit of time. You might have to wait for the next release.

  • Clear website cache.
  • Try again.

The issue will still comeback, but I will circle back to this and see if we can get a permanent fix.
